With the multitude of Romance Reader Cons out there why should you go to RomCon. I’ll tell you why, the atmosphere. The first time we went we knew no one. However by the end of the night the night before it all started we had met a couple of really cool people that took us under their wing so to speak, Katie from Babbling about Books was one of them.
Then there was the authors. We were in the back room helping put together swag bags and we got to meet and hang out with Julia Quinn (who is hilarious), Anna Campbell (who isn’t coming this year 🙁 ) and Elizabeth Hoyt. Over the course of the week-end we met so many other amazing authors who have become more than just a name on the cover of the book to us. Jessa Slade, Erin Kellison, Carly Phillips, Janelle Denison, Gabi Stevens, Delilah Marvelle, Lila DiPasqua, Melissa Mayhue.
In fact they are part of the reason we go back every year. The opportunity to meet and make new friends, reconnect with old ones, enjoy hanging around talking about the books we love, and those we hate. The heroes that have us going back for more.
This for us is RomCon and I for one can’t wait to head to Denver this summer to hang out with readers who love to read the same thing I do, the authors that bring these characters to life and to meet and make new friends.
In fact we love it so much we are giving away a ticket to RomCon next month. All you have to do is the RomCon Reading Challenge. We hope to see you there!
I remember the first time I met Mel and Heather. Mel was in awe because Anna Campbell was standing there talking to us and Heather was talking about hot rugby players. Oh and Julia Quinn was also chatting up a storm with us. She’s one of my favorite authors – and she just came over and started talking to us like we were all good friends.
I’m looking forward to RomCon this year. It won’t be long!
Aloha, Melanie and Heather! I was fortunate to attend the first RomCon during my visit to the mainland. I had a blast and recommend this convention to readers for the same reasons in your blog. Unfortunately, it is too far for me from Hawaii. But once I am stateside again, I’ll be a regular at RomCon!
I look forward to your recaps!
