The Joy of Re-Reads

As reviewers we are constantly reading the new and upcoming books which I have to admit I really love, because I have absolutely no patience when it comes to the books, series, and authors I love.

But one of my absolute favorite things in the world to do is to pick up a book that I love and re-read it.

Whenever I pack up my books for a move I find those treasures that I’d forgotten I had as I add books to the shelves and they are hidden behind new books. This discovery always makes the packing of the books take longer as I HAVE to read those books I’ve just found hidden on the bookshelf.

When you pick up a book for a re-read it’s like reconnecting with an old friend, one that you haven’t seen in a while but who you love.

One of the jems that Ire- discovered on my shelf is the Steele Street series by Tara Janzen. The boys of Steele Street are one of my favorites. Another that I re-discovered was The Boscastle Family by Jillian Hunter. Because of the amount of dust on the books I know that I haven’t read them in a while but I will be rectifying this as soon as I get them back from Helen (so read fast Helen 🙂 ).

Who are some of your favorite re-reads?

I’ve re-read Heaven, Texas by Susan Elizabeth Phillips so many times the spine is almost shot. I love that book!

Re-reads really do feel like connecting with an old friend. I also re-read when I’m in a reading funk. Some of my favorites include Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas, Beauty and the Beast by Melody Thomas and many of Brenda Joyce’s books. Second chance stories are wonderful.
