This book was the first book by Laura Kinsale that I have ever read and it was different from anything that I have read before and I have read a lot of different types of books. I have read paranormal historical, and historicals, and this was one fell somewhere in the middle of these two.

At first I wasn’t sure what to make of these two, they seem like the perfect match. However the thing that bugged me a lot was that fact that they both let outside forces dictate how they were going to be with each other.

Just when I thought that they had resolved their issues here came another one, after a while it got very repetative.

I did like the characters and thought they were a perfect match and great compliment to each other despite the age gap that did bug me a little at first however I soon got past that. I think that main reason for that is that in most of the historicals that I have read in the last few years there wasn’t that big of an age gap.

Over all this is a good book. Is it one that I will keep on my bookshelf probably not. Is it one that I will recommend to others, yes. In fact I am giving away my copy of this book to one lucky person that answers the following question, what book has surprised you the most whether it was in a good way or a bad way?

Winner will be announced on Thursday

I give this book a 3.75 out of 5

Elizabeth Hoyt's book the Tiger Prince surprised me. I did not hold out much hope for it but it turned out to be the best book I read all year. I had been reading alot of historical romance and they all were just starting to feel the same. This one stood out. I highly recommend it.

@Johanna – did you mean The Leopard Prince? I loved that one! It is my favorite Hoyt historical to date.

Kinsale's books are very meaty, I struggle with them a bit. Ironically, her least successful one, The Dream Hunter, is my favorite.

I just read my first Megan Hart book, Pleasure and Purpose. I didn't know what to expect because I've been a mainstream romance reader all my life but this set of historical-fantasy novellas really touched me.

No need to count me in for the giveaway. I have all of Kinsale's books. =)

Johanna I really enjoyed that series. It was a surprise for me as well.

Scorpio M glad to know that I am not the only one that struggles with her.
