Awaken the Highland Warrior

Any smart person would know that when an ancient tomb is discovered and it has a special key to open it, than you start hearing voices warning you to leave it alone, the best thing to do would be to leave it alone.  At least, that is what I would do, than read that he climbed from the tomb and was wearing a kilt – ok that makes everything better, where can I find me one of these tombs?

Faelen is thrown into a world that is unimaginable; he has been locked away for 150 years and is not sure what is quite going on. All that he does know is that he wants Bree, the girl lucky enough to awaken an ancient Scottish warrior.

Bree thinks she has found the mother lode in her backyard; guess you can say that.  She not only finds Faelen but also is now thrown into a world that she did not even know existed.  The people she has known are really not people but demons come to destroy the earth and Faelen is the only one who can stop them.  They both are now fighting to save the world and trying to discover why Bree has so many things and knows so much about Faelen and the other warriors.

This is the first book in a new series and I am one who will want to read the rest of it.  I enjoyed the relationship between Faelen and Bree and want to know about the other warriors we are introduced to.  The story was unique and entertaining.  My only criticism would be towards they end Vampires make an appearance which I do not think was needed, kind of tired of them being in all the paranormals I read lately, but it might be for a reason, I will have to wait for the next book and see. Overall though – great book.

Grade B+

A man from another time…

Faelan is from an ancient clan of Scottish Highland warriors, charged with shielding humanity from demonic forces. He has been sleeping for centuries when Bree Kirkland inadvertently wakes him, and he’s hungry in more ways than one…

Could be the treasure she’s been seeking all her life…

Modern Bree shocks Faelan in every way imaginable – her dress, her speech, her spunkiness.  And he infuriates Bree every time he tries to protect her – can’t he see she can take care of herself?

With horrific demon enemies suddenly on the move, Bree discovers that Faelen’s duty as protector is in his blood, and she’s the only one who can fee him, body and soul…
