Series: Play by Play bk 2
Author: Jaci Burton
Genre: Contemporary
Most people play by the rules. Gavin and Liz aren’t most people…
Win at any cost. That’s always been the mantra of sports agent Liz Darnell. When she carries things too far and risks losing her number-one client, baseball pro Gavin Riley, Liz realizes that she’ll have to work extra innings to win him back. It might not be too much of a stretch. She’s had a thing for this player’s moves since she first laid eyes on him, and by the looks of it, he wants her just as bad.
Gavin’s more than ready—especially when Liz is offering herself as part of the bargain. And as much of her as Gavin wants. For added thrills, he decides to throw a little curve ball Liz’s way to see just how far she’s truly willing to go to keep him as a client. But when love unexpectedly enters the playing field, neither Liz nor Gavin are ready for the biggest game-changer of them all.
I got this book because well hello the cover is just awesome. But then I started reading it and I have to say that I loved every minute of it.
Liz background defines who she is as an adult. She has a not just a case but the best safe in world around her heart. So even though she has been in love with Gavin for years, she has never once acted on it and has no plans to ever act on it. That is until Gavin puts the moves on her. From then on it is all she can do keep her heart in tact.
From the moment Gavin picked up a baseball bat when he was kid that was all he wanted to do. Now he’s in the Majors and his future is set. Gavin has never once thought of Liz as anything other than his agent. So when she plants a very non-agent kiss on him it knocks him for a loop and it is all he can do to stop thinking about getting her into bed. So he decides that he will have her in his bed.
If it was just between Gavin and Liz well then theirs would be an easy rode to happily ever after, however it is just about them. Liz did something to piss of Gavin’s older brother Mick (The Perfect Play) and he now wants her no where near his family.
I have to say that this is one of those books that I can read again and again. There was just something about Gavin and Liz that had you rooting for them, even with Mick trying to destroy them.
When Gavin finally does pull his head out of his ass and goes to fix what he screwed up it takes the combined effort of his entire family to fix it. And boy does he fix it.
This is a really great read and will have you cheering on Gavin and Liz from page 1 to the last page.

I could just look at that cover …
But the book is really worth reading as well, and someday I will.
I love sports romance, with baseball as my #1 favorite sport.
