Home is where her heart is
When Presley Christensen returns to Whiskey Creek with her little boy after two years away, she has completely changed her life. She’s made peace with her past and overcome the negative behavior that resulted from her difficult childhood. Now she’s back in the small town that was the closest thing to “home” she ever knew—the town where she can be with the sister who’s her only family.
There’s just one catch. Aaron Amos still lives in Whiskey Creek, at least until he moves to Reno to open a branch of the Amos brothers’ auto body shop. And no matter how hard she’s tried, Presley hasn’t been able to get over him. Seeing him again makes the longing so much worse. But she hopes she can get through the next few months, because she can’t fall back into his arms…or his bed. She’s come too far to backslide now. And there’s a secret she’s been guarding—a secret she’ll do anything to protect.
Thoughts:
I’ve been waiting for Presley and Aaron’s story and I wasn’t disappointed. The love that Presley and Aaron felt for each other that began in WHEN SUMMER COMES (book 3) ran deep and it with the fantastic writing of Brenda Novak we were treated to a love story that proved that no matter how much time or distance past that TRUE LOVE would always prevail. Aaron has some character flaws but so does Presley? Hey don’t we all. This just shows that the story being told is based on true human nature. There wasn’t a connection between Presley and Riley which was very apparent.
I loved how the truth of Wyatt’s paternity was played out. It rang true with me. It didn’t seem like a soap opera or a movie drama it made you feel for all involved and you became emotional entangled with the truth just as Aaron and his family did.
I won’t say anymore about the storyline with Presley and Aaron for fear of giving away spoilers.
There were a couple of secondary story lines that were playing out throughout the book which I found intriguing and piqued my interest. We have J.T. the father of the Fearsome Five (the Amos Brothers) and his new wife making an appearance which leads me to believe that he may be heading home to Whiskey Creek soon. What will this mean for the Amos brothers? I’m anxious to know.
Then we have Cheyenne and Dylan trying to get pregnant. Cheyenne wants nothing more than to see Dylan happy because he has given up so much for his family. Not wanting to give away any spoilers I’ll just say Cheyenne chose to go a non-traditional route to have a child. This act of love which some saw as deceit made me root harder for Cheyenne and Dylan to have their own family. When you love someone that much and want them to be happy people do what they feel is necessary. I found this storyline to be as true to what someone would do in real life. I see this story having a potentially heartwarming ending that will blow the mind.
Hats off to Brenda Novak for hitting another one out of the park. Looking forward to the next installment in the Whiskey Creek series.

This was my least fav book of Brenda’s and I do enjoy her books. I understand why the act of deceit that Cheyenne chose could be considered an act of love but let’s be realistic, it is DECEITFUL and even immoral and most likely in real life would come back to bite all concerned in the ass. This is fiction however but I still do not like the entire scenario. Just my opinion. Would be curious to hear what other readers think.
Pat I have to agree with you. As did most of the people on twitter who were reading it at the same time I was. I couldn’t get past it. I am however curious to what will happen when the truth comes out because it will.
Yup, I hope the truth comes out and I cannot see a good resolution when it does. Even if she loses the baby, poor Dylan is duped and trust broken by his wife, brother and Presley.
