Series: Fearsome (#3)
Author: S.A. Wolfe
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Blurb: A bombshell waitress who wants more. A former FBI agent who wants less … except for her.
*This is a standalone novel in the FEARSOME Series.
Imogene Walsh has always been unapologetically confident and ruthlessly opinionated with people, particularly men. No one is spared from her unfiltered mouth, but it hasn’t seemed to deter Cooper MacKenzie. Although he is not the clean-cut, businessman type she’s always thought she should pursue, Imogene is drawn to the sexy outsider who is the hottest topic in town gossip, the fantasy heartthrob women love to speculate about.
She has spent most of her life in the little town of Hera, NY, putting her numerous forgettable relationships behind her and floundering in both her professional and personal life. Work and men—neither have gone well for her. Now it’s reached the point where she wants to stop playing it safe.
It may be time to live up to her tough reputation and take a chance on Cooper, the only man who isn’t intimidated by Imogene’s brash personality. However, it could be a thrilling ride that doesn’t end well.
My Thoughts: This is a standalone in the Fearsome series, but do yourself a favor and read 1 and 2. While you may not need to in order to follow this storyline, they are awesome. You’ll also get some background about Imogene and Cooper. I absolutely loved Fearsome (#1) and I liked Freedom (#2) although not as much as #1. Honestly, I was a little nervous when I started reading Faithful. There was no need. Cooper was everything I hoped and Imogene didn’t let me down!
Cooper has been flirting with Imogene for a year and Imogene keeps putting him off. Her relationship with Jeremy ended in Freedom when he moved and then started ignoring her. This did a number on Imogene, because Jeremy was supposed be the safe one. She has a history of going after the bad boys and she was changing the norm to have a better relationship, but even her safe bet let her down. She decides to focus on her jewelry business and take a break from guys, but she ends up kissing him when she’s drunk at Dylan’s wedding. Once Cooper finally breaks through Imogene’s walls (even a little), he’s determined to smash the rest of them to dust.
Cooper seems like the player when we meet him in Freedom. He’s the motorcycle driving ex-FBI agent that looks too yummy for his own good. Cooper has really only had his eyes set on one woman in Hera though, but she does everything in her power to ignore him. When she isn’t ignoring him, she’s being nasty. Can he break through Imogene’s walls?
I loved watching Cooper play Imogene. She has no idea that he’s been sneaking his way for a year and he keeps tricking her into spending time together. The way that he supports her jewelry business sneakily is too cute. I mean I fell in love with Cooper! When Imogene finds out something about him that is a deal breaker for her, I respected the way she stuck to her guns even when it killed her. I loved how she pushed Cooper to his limits and was so snarky and brazen.
Faithful had everything I loved about Fearsome and none of the things I struggled with in Freedom. I have fallen for this town and all of its inhabitants and I am not sure I am ready to let go. I’ll hold my breath for another in the Fearsome series, but I’ll stick with S.A. Wolfe!
Grade: A
Sounds like an interesting series….I’m going to have to try this one!…:)
