Series: Fast Track book 7
Author: Erin McCarthy
Easing into the turns…
As one of only two girls on the tween racing circuit, Shawn Hamby has always run with a fast crowd. But now at thirty-two, she doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone. And she definitely doesn’t need a man bossing her around off of the track…
Putting the pedal to the metal…
But after a silly girls’ night at a fetish club, Shawn can’t get Rhett Ford out of her mind. He’s younger than her, and he’s her best friend’s brother-in-law, which should be red flags. Rhett is looking for someone to lead in bed, but he can’t imagine that Shawn would ever submit to him. Boldly surrendering is more her style. And with Rhett behind the wheel, it’s going to be one wild ride…
I devoured the first 6 1/2 books in the series in a three-month period so I have waited on pins and needles to read the next book/books in the series!!
In typical Erin McCarthy fashion this book starts off with a bang! The women are at a book club meeting at a place called The Wet Spot… I knew right then I was going to love it!
Eve (from book 6-Eve is Shawn’s BFF): “my husband’s going to start to think our book club is a front for checking off items on my Bad Girl Bucket List. Last month we got drunk on margaritas and took a pole-dancing class which was a huge leap from reading Margaret Thatcher’s biography. The month before, you goaded me into waxing my cooter, though Nolan wanted to write your thank you note for that one.” Now that’s a book club I could get on board with!
Shawn lost her grandfather 3 months earlier and a stipulation in his will says she cannot inherit the small dirt track, Hamby Speedway, that she manages and loves unless she’s married. Enter the much younger man, Rhett Ford, that Shawn briefly met at The Wet Spot and cannot stop thinking about. An impromptu proposition, a quick trip to the court house and problem solved! But in a short period of time their marriage of convenience turns into so much more.
To me this story is a great look into our upbringing, families and how their strengths and weaknesses form us as adults… whether we’re conscious of it or not. Rhett’s strong family upbringing with support and love put Shawn to the test. Can she overcome the flighty negligence of her mother and realize what’s staring her in the face?
In my opinion this is another amazing Erin McCarthy read, not to mention that it’s SMOKIN hot. I love all her work and she keeps me coming back every time! I missed seeing a lot of the previous Fast Track gang in this book but Ms. McCarthy definitely left an opening for a #8 – a possible Harley and Cooper story? Guess we’ll see in Sept of 2014 according to www.erinmccarthy.net.
