Title: Mr and Mr Smith
Series: Tough Love bk 1
Author: HelenKay Dimon
Genre: Romantic Suspense, M/M
Blurb: Secrets and seduction make for an explosive combination in HelenKay Dimon’s edgy, thrilling new series, which kicks off with a novel about two men who can handle any threat—except the one posed by desire.
Fisher Braun knows how to keep a secret. As a covert paramilitary operative, his job—and his life—depends on it. He’s at the top of his game, ready for action and always in control. No enemy has ever brought him to his knees, but one lover has: Zachary Allen, the man currently sharing his bed. The perfect package of brains and brawn, Zach is someone worth coming home to, and Fisher hates keeping him in the dark about what he does. But the lies keep Zach safe. Until the day Fisher loses everything. . . .
Zachary Allen is no innocent civilian. Although he plays the tech geek, in reality he’s deep undercover for the CIA. In a horrible twist of fate, the criminal enterprise he’s infiltrated has set its sights on the man whose touch drives him wild. Zach would do anything for Fisher—except blow his own cover. Now, in order to save him, Zach must betray him first. And he needs Fisher to trust him with all his heart if they want to make it out alive.
Thoughts: Years ago someone told me they preferred to read M/M I was all nope not for me. Then I read Laid Bare by Lauren Dane and thought hmmm maybe I do like this. Over the years since then I’ve read some I’ve liked, some I’ve gone nope, some I’ve loved and other’s I’ve flat out fallen head over heels in love with.
For this reader HelenKay Dimon is one of the…if not the best M/M author I’ve read.
Mr and Mr Smith is one of those stories that pulled on every single one of my emotions. Fear, heartbreak, anger, joy, disappointment. And all of that was in the first two chapters.
Fisher and Zach are two of the best heroes I’ve read this year.
I flat out loved Fisher. His vulnerability. His teammates and how they had his back, and know that he’s got theirs. The intensity with which he loves Zach. His willingness to do anything to save Zach.
For a minute I hated Zach, but then I kept reading trusting in HelenKay and man did it pay off because everything that Fisher feels about Zach, he feels the same. Only Zach has the added knowledge that if he fails Fisher loses. It didn’t take long for me to be just as in love with Zach as I was with Fisher.
The way that they love each other had me reading scenes over and over again just to see them baring everything to each other. Then there was the ending and OMG did my heart pound as I read it.
The secondary characters, like of Dimon’s books, add a lot of spice, snark and general I can’t wait, please tell they’re going to get a book of their own.
If you like spies, heroes who’ll do anything to protect the person they love, teammates that make you want to either kill or seriously maim them at least twenty times a day, but who you’d have at your back anytime, and a plot that goes beyond this book you won’t want to miss Mr and Mr Smith.
