To keep it secret from her biker family, the  Chaos Motorcycle Club, she calls Shy to rescue her. But when she lets  him back in, she gets much more than she bargained for.

This was my first Kristen Ashley read and definitely will not be my last! I loved her writing style in this book – mainly coming from one characters point of view and the occasional and brief glimpses of what another character was thinking and feeling. And Holy Cow – the chemistry that she created between Shy and Tabby was enough to make my Kindle smoke!

The beginning of the book is used to establish the relationship, or lack of, between these characters. The background is set up for the star-crossed history that these two have for the first 4 years or so, how Tabby’s crush is crushed, she moves on and Shy comes to realize what he’s lost.  Despite their rough beginnings Shy steps up at a time when Tabby needs him most and they start to build a friendship that will start the foundation of their future.

There is a constant flow in the book as we went from our couple struggling, then finding each other and establishing themselves as a couple in spite of the misgivings of their close and extended families. We learn the background that shaped Shy into the man that he is and made him seek the brotherhood that the Chaos Motorcycle Club offered a young man at a time when he needed it most. At the same time, you see why Tabby is the strong and determined woman that she is and how the influence of the Club shaped her.

Kristen Ashley and her excellent use of words to draw the reader into the story is simply awesome! “He leaned toward her and growled, ‘You are not leaving.’ Suddenly, she lost it, throwing her hands out to the sides, she asked, ‘Why?’ ‘This is why,’ he clipped, stalked the three steps that separated them, snaked an arm around her waist, drove a hand into the back of her hair, and hauled her into his arms. He slammed his mouth down on hers. Then he thrust his tongue between her lips and there it was.”  You should take a moment and read that blurb a second time… SMOKIN’ HOT! Another favorite phrase that’s used throughout the book to describe Shy’s awe that Tabby is finally his ” ‘You,’ he whispered, ‘in my bed.’ ”  You may have to use some imagination to read that quote out of context here but WOW!! in the flow of the story its enough to make even the most cynical romance reader swoon a little. She has made a fan for life out of this reader!!

This book is the first of the Chaos series but there are brief appearances by characters from the Kristen Ashley 4 book series Dream Man – doesn’t make the story hard to follow just makes me want to jump into that series and catch up while I wait for the second book in the Chaos series to be published. And we don’t have long to wait… looks like Fire Inside will be available in early June!
