Thoughts:  The blurb sounded really interesting for this book, and tried hard to get into it.  For some reason it just wasn’t coming together for me.  Eventually, I just put it to the side.  I felt largely like I missing something, but I’m not sure exactly how much the fact that this is the second in a series influences it, so I don’t feel right giving it a rating.  At some point, I may go back and read the first one and then retry reading this one, but it didn’t suck me in enough that I’m simply clamoring to read the first one.  Overall, I would say if you want to try this series, start at the beginning.
