Thoughts:
Right from the start, this book had a different air to it. I’m still trying to put my fingers on just how to explain it, but I feel like I’ve been invited into another world I hadn’t yet experienced through all the books I’ve read, and it has me very intrigued. There’s all sorts of different romance genre’s out there, like MC, rock star, military, sport theme, etc., but yoga is all together an unfamiliar world to me. Audrey gives us newcomers not only a little lesson on yoga poses and chakra’s, but the spirituality of it all. A different way to look at life, embrace it and live it to the fullest. I read her Trinity trilogy, which brought me to her Calendar Girl series, which brought me to join her street team and her lovely Angels, but haven’t hit her The Falling series, yet. However, I can say with absolute confidence, that Resisting Roots is her BEST EVER! But . . . before you start thinking this is all about yoga, let’s remember readers, this is Audrey “Effin” Carlan and this lady can bring the HEAT. Hell who knew yoga could get so naughty and sensual? Well, I didn’t, but the girl’s got me thinking about adding some yoga to my weekly exercise regimen. Flexibility never sounded so erotic!
Genevieve Harper is a gorgeous, twenty-four year-old, platinum blonde with a lot on her plate. Three years ago her parents died in an accident, leaving her to raise her two siblings, Mary now eight and Rowan, now 16. Though she was able to pay the mortgage off on their large Berkeley, California home with funds from her parents’ estate, property taxes, home repairs and everyday expenses are mounting up. She works two jobs, one cutting hair out of her garage, since she couldn’t finish her cosmetology diploma, and the other as a yogi at Lotus House Yoga Center. Vivvie was already taking yoga there with her Mom, so when she died, Chrystal the owner fast tracked her through their teacher training program to get her credentials.
Trent Fox may not strike out at the plate much, or with the ladies for that matter, but his torn hamstring has him sitting in the dugout. His contract is up for renewal, so he’s got to be ready for spring training in three months or risk losing what could be a major contract increase, maybe even his career. After the arse chewing by his agent Ross Holmes, Trent finally seeks out the “hatha yoga” therapy the team doc recommended. Walking into Lotus House was like walking into a candy store for Trent, but once he set his eyes on the petite, vivacious blonde with bubblegum pink lips, all the other flavors were sour in comparison. “Gumdrop” he called her. “Gumdrop,” she asked. “Your lips are pretty and pink and look as sweet as candy. Reminds me of a pink sugarcoated cherry gumdrop. My favorite.” Yes, he was a player all right, a smooth talking, hard bodied, professional baseball PLAYER.
Viv knows he’s a player and after a trip around the bases with her, he’ll wanna be swinging his bat in another direction. But is she up for some batting practice with this jock strap or should she forget about fielding this fast baller altogether?
Trent can’t figure out what’s got him all screwed up over this one woman. He hadn’t kissed her or touched her and yet when he thought about other women he felt guilty. Trent could tell quickly she was different.
