About HARD TO SERVE:
To protect and serve is all Detective Kyler Vance ever wanted to do, so when Internal Affairs investigates him as part of the new police commissioner’s bid to oust corruption, everything is on the line. Which makes meeting a smart, gorgeous submissive at an exclusive play club the perfect distraction…
The director of the city’s hottest art gallery, Mia Breslin’s career is golden. Now if only she could find a man to dominate her nights and set her body—and her heart—on fire. When a scorching scene with a hard-bodied, brooding Dom at Blasphemy promises just that, Mia is lured to serve Kyler again and again.
As their relationship burns hotter, Kyler runs into Mia at work and learns that he’s been dominating the daughter of the hard-ass boss who has it in for him. Now Kyler must choose between life-long duty and forbidden desire before Mia finds another who’s not so hard to serve.

HARD TO SERVE EXCERPT – Dancing:
So many readers asked for more stories in my bestselling Hard Ink series, and I’m so excited to be able to give you just that in my new, super sexy HARD TO SERVE! HARD TO SERVE is an edgy stand-alone love story about a Baltimore police detective whose red-hot BDSM relationship with a new submissive seems like the perfect distraction from a trumped-up investigation against him until he learns that the woman is his boss’s daughter. Talk about sparks flying! I had so much fun writing this book, and I can’t wait for everyone to read it! And if you enjoy it, you might like to check out the whole Hard Ink series, now complete! Happy reading!
Hands settled on her waist as she moved on the dancefloor. “You want him, Mia?”
She recognized the voice in her ear before she laid eyes on the speaker. And then she peered over her shoulder.
Master Kyler.
“Do you?” he asked, dark eyes absolutely blazing, his hands gripping her more firmly, his body moving behind hers.
She couldn’t pull away despite the chaos erupting in her brain—over the fact that he was here, over the feelings of relief, rightness, and heat rushing through her blood, over the fact that she didn’t want to feel anything at all, not if he didn’t want her back. “What if I do?” she called over the music.
“You don’t,” he gritted out, tugging her back against him, his cock hard against her lower back. His hands slid upward, inch by slow inch, until they were right beneath her breasts and she ached for him to grab her there. Their bodies moved together, falling into a shared rhythm.
The music changed, the song erupting into an arousing, driving beat that conjured up images of sweaty bodies and twisted sheets. The dancefloor went wild. The man with the nice smile and nicer moves offered her a little bow, his gaze flashing to Kyler behind her, before fading away into the press of bodies.
She whirled in Master Kyler’s embrace. But, no, he wasn’t her Master, was he? “You don’t get to tell me what I do or don’t want.”
His arms banded around her and his hands moved over her back, holding her close, staking a claim. At least, that’s how it felt. But she didn’t trust it.
“Maybe I don’t,” he said, hauling her into him, his thigh pushing between hers, forcing her flowy skirt up to bare more of her legs. The way he moved—the way he moved her—had her brain thinking about all the other times he’d been between her legs, thrusting, grinding, penetrating. Her core clenched at the frustratingly light friction, wanting more, needing more. Of him. “But what if I’d like to have a say?”
What the hell did that mean? She pushed at his chest. His closeness made it too hard to think. But he wouldn’t let her go. “Mast—” She shook her head, exasperated and overwhelmed. “Kyler, what are you even doing here?”
Blue eyes blazing, his expression was full of that intensity she loved. He leaned his mouth to her ear. “Bachelor party. Was on the way out when I saw you. The others just left. I told them I’d catch up.”
She frowned. “Why…why did you do that?”
His got right in her face, their hips grinding together as he guided them, his erection obvious against her. “Because the woman I can’t stop thinking about is here.”
Thoughts:
Kyler recurred in the Hard Ink series and played a huge role in helping our guys restore their reputations (If you haven’t read this series you totally should!!) so he deserved his own HEA! (See one of my previous Hard Ink reviews here). What we hadn’t seen was that dominate side of Kyler that was smoking HOT!!
And Mia was the perfect blend of submissive to Kyler! Her strength and willpower and desire to settle for nothing less than exactly what she wants were easy to relate to and aspire to! You can feel the intensity between these 2 characters coming through the pages! That is a trait that keeps me coming back to Laura Kaye’s writing again and again. (did you read this attached blurb??!! That’s the intensity that is displayed in the entire novella!!)
As a reader and blogger who has read every single contemporary romance word that Laura Kaye has put to paper, I have to say that this novella will stand out as an all time fave!! I see great things in this Blasphemy series!!
