ulie Masterson craves a taste of danger.
Despite being familiar with the different games people play in the bedroom, she’s never given in to her curiosity about putting her body in someone else’s power—until a chance meeting with Daniel Covington, the seductive Senior VP of Weston Bank, draws her into a titillating new world of sexual experience, one that she never knew she desperately needed.
Daniel is highly respected within his community, but he hasn’t had an exclusive relationship for over two years. Yet Julie’s eager innocence is driving him to the brink of ecstasy, making him rethink his feelings about commitment.
As their sizzling connection heats up, Daniel is ready to take Julie fully under his command. But when the dangerous side of their play rears its ugly head, Julie will have to decide if she trusts him enough to surrender completely—or if she should escape before she gets burned.
Thoughts: When I received this book I was a little leary about reading. I’d loved The Submissive, but didn’t enjoy the next two books in the series. After having the book on my nightstand for a while I decided to pick it up and read it. I didn’t read it all in one sitting, but over a couple of weeks.
What I really liked about this book was the fact that it wasn’t told in first person. We got to see both Julie and Daniel’s POV’s.
When Julie meets Daniel he’s just a guy she’s attracted to. She has no clue about his kinky side, and that it will bring out the desires she has never allowed to come to light. After an amazing night together all she knows is she wants to spend more time with him. When she attends a local meeting of the BDSM community and sees him there it rocks her.
When the woman that Daniel has started seeing shows up at his BDSM community meeting with another submissive he’s both irritated and excited. He’s irritated that the submissive who brought her did so, because it makes it look like he’s hiding who he is, which is not the truth. He’s also excited when he finds out she’s been curious for a long time and her friend has been asking her to come to the meetings for months.
As their relationship progresses, they begin to explore the submissive side of Julie. Everything is going great until something happens to someone they both know in the BDSM community. This sends Julie into a spiral and causes Daniel to break it off with her, as that is what he thinks she wants.
The journey that these two characters go on is complex and full of emotions and self-discovery.
If there was anything I found lacking in this story is that while we got Daniel’s back story, we never learned anything about Julie and hers. And I really wanted to know a little bit about her back story.
The secondary characters in this story are such that I found myself wanting to know more about them, and hoping their stories come next.
