Series Review: Alabama Summer by J. Daniels

My love for this series is SO BIG that I wanted to share all 3 books and my thoughts about them at once!! Thank you for indulging me – Jeananna

JD WIBWhen Mia Corelli returns to Alabama for a summer of fun with her childhood best friend, Tessa, there’s only one thing keeping her on edge. One person that she’d do anything to avoid.

Benjamin Kelly. World’s biggest dickhead.

Mia hates him with a fury and has no desire to ever see him again. When she decides to start her summer off with a bang and finally give away her v-card, she unknowingly hands it over to the one guy that excelled at making her life miserable, learning a valuable lesson in the process.

Always get the name of the guy you’re going home with.

Ben can’t get the girl he spent one night with out of his head. When she leaves him the next morning, he thinks he’ll never see her again. Until he sees her lounging by the pool with his sister.

Mia is determined to hate Ben, even though she can’t forget him.

Ben is determined to prove he’s not the same guy he used to be.

What happens when the one person you wish never existed becomes the one person you can’t imagine being without?

JD AIWFrom NY Times and USA Today bestselling author, J. Daniels, the second book in the Alabama Summer series.

Luke Evans is a heartbreaker.
I didn’t want to give mine to him. Not when he kept me out.
He gave me enough, just enough to make me fall in love with him. I say this to convince myself. But I know the truth.
I would’ve fallen in love with him at a distance.
Handing my heart over to Luke was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I was naive when I wished for more, when I hoped he wanted the same things I did.
I try to hate him. I try to forget him.
But it’s not that easy.
Love is a ruthless bitch, and I’m her latest victim.

Tessa Kelly is a man-eater.
When she sets her sights on you, she doesn’t just consume your heart, she goes for your soul.
What we had was perfect, real, and all I would ever want.
But she destroyed it.
She destroyed us.
I try to hate her. I try to forget her.
But it’s not that easy.
Love is for people who have hope, and I have none.

Warning: this book contains adult themes. 18+. All I Want is a standalone novel, but to fully appreciate the f****ed-up mess that is Luke & Tessa, pick up Where I Belong first.

JD WIFFrom NY Times and USA Today bestselling author, J. Daniels, book three in the Alabama Summer series.

For the past nine years, I’ve kept my heart as far away from my dick as possible.

Those two can’t be anywhere near each other. They don’t play nice, and one of them undoubtedly winds up getting hurt.

Not my dick. My dick is good.

The women I take home know exactly what they’re getting from me—sex. Nothing more. At least, that’s what’s supposed to happen. The sweet brunette from Kentucky I set my sights on tonight shouldn’t have been any different. I had her right where I wanted her. Where I needed her. But when my past comes walking into McGill’s pub, the woman in my arms decides to take things to a whole new level, putting me into a situation I never saw coming.

My heart is about to get fucked. My dick can sit this one out.

Warning: this book is recommended for readers over the age of 18 due to strong language and explicit sexual content. When I Fall can be read as a standalone novel.

THOUGHTS:

OMG OMG OMG!! J. Daniels and her Bama boys!! Do you see these pictures?

JD BAMA2

How many of you have seen this pic floating around on Facebook and other blogs? Well I did over and over again… So when I saw it on a friends page I asked her what kind of goodness I was missing out on – well she feels so strongly about the series that she gifted me a Kindle copy of book 1, Where I Belong, and the rest is history!

Right now it’s at three published books (looks like a book 4 is in the works!!) all standalone reads but with intertwined characters and a little overlap in the time frames (I love that in a series!). Friends, brothers, sisters, work colleagues they come together to create the town of Ruxton, Alabama.

Book one, Where I Belong, is Ben and Mia. Boy, oh boy!! The chemistry between these two was fan yourself, hand me a glass of water, smokin’ HOT! There was a history between them that was a lot to overcome but with the guiding hand of Tessa (sis to Ben/BFF to Mia) and Ben’s determination (he was all in and willing to do anything he can to get his girl) Mia did not stand a chance! I cried buckets at certain parts of this book and simply fell in love with the world that J Daniels created!

and let’s not forget Nolan – that little guy almost stole the show in this one… almost…

Book two, All I Want, is Luke and Tessa. We got glimpses of them together in book one and we knew there was some turmoil to come home but MAN I had no clue… This is definitely the most angsty of the three but just as great and in true J. Daniels style we got our HEA! At many times in this story I wanted to wrap Luke in a big’o hug and then smack him on the back of the head at the same time…

Book 3, When I Fall, is Reed and Beth. Oh book 3… I just finished reading it and as I sit here to write this review let me tell you… this book, seriously… it blew me away! I loved Reed in the first two books. He was the consummate playboy, flirt, no-commitment, best friend. I love the guy/girl BFF connection (Reed and Tessa). They have had each other’s backs since school and no one gives Reed a harder time or a reality check quicker than Tessa can.

And above all else I love that Beth ROCKED Reed’s world from the moment that he set eyes on her!

Their story line had the potential to be predictable –

Example: You have a guy scorned by love early in life and he refuses to commit for years and years later… enter the b*tch that broke his heart and we’re expected to forgive her and let them live happily ever after…

Thank goodness that was NOT what happened!!

Second example of how this could have been predictable: you have a girl who gets scared or hurt and runs away and you have a guy who gets hurt and pissed that she ran and they spend weeks and weeks apart from each other before they wake up and realize they belong together….

Once again that’s NOT what went down and I love love love J Daniels for not being predictable!! And I love her for writing books that I could not put down! And for making a series that I am excited about and want to shout to anyone that will listen “You need to read this series! Immediately!”

Bring on book 4! and in the mean time I will read J. Daniels’ Sweet Addiction series that I have had on my TBR list for quite some time. Don’t be like me and wait to read Alabama Summer… bump this up on your list and enjoy! You will not regret it!
