Storm of Shadows
The Chosen Ones bk 2
Brilliant but predictable and proper Rosamund Hill has lived her life buried in universities and libraries, discounting the legend of the Chosen as a myth. Until Aaron Eagle shows up at her door. Aaron both unsettles and enthralls her. But she can’t resist his irresistible offers of clandestine visits to private museums, the hunt for a mysterious prophecy, or a makeover that unleashes her untamed soul. With the promise of a love that will defy fate itself, Rosamund is forced to confront the truth about the Chosen — and the man who sweeps her into a dangerous world of dark secrets.
REVIEW: It has been awhile since I read this book, however as I tend remember everything that I have read and like to think about the book before I review it it is a good thing.
We first meet the Chosen in the book Storm of Visions, and this book takes place immediately after that one, so if you haven’t read that book I highly recommend it otherwise you may be a little lost in this book.
We don’t know much about Aaron other than he was blackmailed into being one of the Chosen, at the beginning of this book however that is soon corrected as the opening scene is his birth. Aaron grew up in the mountains living off the land, like his ancestors. He didn’t leave the mountain until his father died. He is a man that has very much been shaped by his past and also his unique gift.
Aaron is a very successful thief and business man. He is sure of everything and completely confident in who and what he is. Not even Rosamund can throw him, or so he thinks.
Rosamond is a very naive and sheltered expert in her field. No one knows more than she does about her subject however she has no clue about anything else. Especially men.
With the naive and innocent Rosamund as his partner Aaron races around the world for a prophecy that they can’t allow to fall into Satan’s hands.
I liked Aaron as he was a man that thought he knew how to do everything and that his way was the only way to do something. He didn’t know how to handle Rosamund, a woman completely different from any that he had ever met in his life. On one hand she intrigued him, on another she frustrated him. The one thing he knows for sure is that with her he is more than he ever was before.
Rosamund is one of those women that we all know and kinda shake our heads at. All she has is her book knowledge and the world that she knew before her mother died and her dad cocooned her in academia. She is completely out of her depth with this adventure that she is on with Aaron, however because of her personality she is able to get into places where Aaron can’t.
I loved this book, the story line, the characters and we get to meet more people that are linked to the Chosen in this book. It is also revealed that they have seven years to accomplish the task that is before them.
If you like good versus evil with Satan as the big evil guy than you will love this series. I know that I do.
I give this book a 4.5 out of 5
