Seven years ago, blonde, beautiful lawyer Dena Jenkins was tired of her carefully controlled life. Desperate for something exhilarating to help her escape the pressures of her demanding job and her senator father, she joined a steamy, local BDSM club as a submissive. There she met brooding Dominant, Jeff. The attraction between them was undeniable, and, despite Dena’s doubts, they couldn’t stay away from each other.
Except, as the years have passed, their blazing connection has proven difficult to maintain. Dena and Jeff have a history they’d rather forget, but Dena can’t let go of the past, and Jeff is ready to move across the country to give her space. Now, to save their passion, they’ll have to rediscover what it means to trust each other—and give themselves to each other completely…
Thoughts: I don’t read a lot of erotic romance so this is the first book I’ve read by Tara Sue Me but I’m glad I read it. The basis of the story is the relationship between former lovers Dena and Jeff who were reunited by their BDSM group as well as an event in Dena’s personal life. They both had to find closure with the horrible tragedy that tore them apart years earlier.
Though they were still part of the same BDSM group and saw each other on occasion the past stayed between them but the attraction still had it’s pull and it shined brightly when they were asked to do a demonstration.
Dena’s submissiveness was only in the bedroom outside those four walls the relationship between her and Jeff was combative because they clashed more than anything.
Even though I hadn’t read the previous books in this series I was able to follow their past with the flashbacks that Tara Sue Me used in the books, which I found helpful. I found myself on an emotional ride during this read.
Tara Sue Me brought the characters to life for me along with everything in their lives, the good and the bad. I felt what they felt. This is a sign of good writing.
I will definitely be reading the previous books in the series.
