Caitlyn Marsh stopped believing in happily-ever-after when high-school sweetheart, Gideon Garza, left for Iraq. Now she raises her small son while her matchmaking gardening club members drive her crazy. Then Caitlyn’s world turns upside-down when Gideon swaggers back to Twilight.
Gideon left town in the middle of the night with threats ringing in his ears. A lot of things have changes since then. This bad boy-turned-Green Beret bears scars from the war, the timid girl he loved is an idependent mother, and the father who refused to recognize his son in life has, in death, left him a vast cattle ranch.
He still aches for Caitlyn, and now there’s a dark-haired boy who looks exactly like Gideon did at that age. Could the child be his? And can this war-weary soldier overcome the scars of the past to claim the family he so richly deserves?
First off let me say that I love the Twilight Series and this book does not disappoint. Each one of the books is unique in it’s own way yet they complement each other so well. You get to know each one of the towns people throughout the books so it is like visiting a family when you pick up the next one.
I also love that Lori introduces us to Gideon and does not hold back but lets us experience his turmoil at war and how he overcomes the terror that he feels his life was. She gives us a glimpse into someone suffering PTSD and finding his way out of the nightmares. Also giving us a welcoming backdrop and a place to honor all of the military heros. All through her normal style with community, humor and of course romance. Romance is still a big part of this book and is really what creates the change in everyone, yes love does conquer everything.
As for Caitlyn, she has her own issues to overcome. Looses her mother at a young age, is estranged from her father who not only is distant but is the one who took Gideon away from her. She goes on with her life to only than loose her husband and become a single mom. Caitlyn is afraid of just about everything, especially loosing someone else. So of course the one person she thought was gone forever and the hardest to get over somehow returns from the dead. Caitlyn and Gideon learn they still have feelings for each other but can they overcome their past?
If you have read and loved a Lori Wilde book this one is not to be missed.
Do you have a favorite Lori Wilde book?
And guess what – 2 lucky commenters will get their own copy!
Grade A
I have to be honest I have never read a Lori Wilde book. I think this book sounds very interesting and close to heart. I will have to add this to my TBR pile. And check out the other Twilight series books.
I have the first love cookie club & quilting club. 🙂 Loved them both. Still need to get the 3rd one of those. I like her style. Would love to try these. Loved the reviews!! 🙂
Aloha! Hmm, choosing my favorite Lori Wilde book is akin to choosing a favorite child. But since THE WELCOME HOME GARDEN CLUB has a military hero, let’s go with ADDICTED TO LOVE. I was touched by the scene where the heroine sees the hero’s “stump” for the first time …. surprisingly very sexy!
Elisa, run to the nearest bookstore and read Lori’s backlist! Her books are funny and charming!
I discovered Lori Wilde years ago with her Touch of Silk novel for Harlequin Blaze and just fell in love. She writes great characters in even better relationships with great romance, lots of fun, humor, action, and then can turn around and make you cry. When you finish a romance with that sigh of contentment because you *know* the hero and heroine are the perfect fit? That’s a great book!
I think I’ve read just about every book she’s written at this point but my favorite? Hmmm.
The First Love Cookie Club (I could really relate to that book) for single title. Just a great book all the way around. Satisfying read from start to finish.
Bachelors of Bear Creek series (Harlequin) for her short contemporary romance. Romantic. Sexy. Funny. I swear the TV Show Men In Trees was inspired by her Bachelors books.
You Only Love Twice, License to Thrill, and and Mission: Irresistible are in a 3 way tie if you’re looking for adventure/action romance
And if you’re looking for something a little more Chick-Lit with a good mystery and that sub-plot of romance? Saving Allegheny Green is a must read. It’s the only 1st person POV book I’ve ever a) enjoyed, b) finished, and c) kept. In fact, it’s still on my bookshelf.
I can’t wait to read The Welcome Home Garden Club. I hear she’s also got a new Blaze out (hot navy hero!) and that she’s working on a sexy cowboy series. I’m very excited.
from the sounds of this book I should obtain the other 3 right away and get reading. Love the war heros.
Glad to see there is some humor in this book.
Lori’s books are wonderful if you haven’t them you are missing some wonderful stories.
I haven’t read a book by Lori yet but her latest sounds great! I love the idea with the garden.
Lori’s book sounds great. My favorite is The First Love Cookie Club.
This book sounds just like the genre that I read, can’t wait to get my hands on a copy to read.
Thank you again Lori,
Your writing is always something to look forward to.
I know this book will be as good as the other’s in the ” Twilight Texas novels”. Any book Lori writes is a very good book to read. You just can’t put the book down. I always feel like I’m apart of any of her books that I read. So I suggest to all to run out and buy “The Welcome Home Garden Club”.
This is another great book by Lori. I think it is my favorite so far. It does make you think about our military and what they are doing for us.
You don’t have to read the series in order, but it does help to know about the other characters.
@Elisa: what are you waiting for? Put Garden Club at the top of your pile. I got hooked on Wilde’s Wedding Veil Wishes series and immediately followed her over to the Twilight, TX series… I love how each story is seperate from the others, but the minor characters make appearances. Reminds me of my childhood in a small town on the Canadian prairies.
Lori is an amazing writer, she always holds your interest, its difficult to put her books down. I just finished The Welcome Home Garden Club which is the fourth in the Twilight, Texas series. I Loved, Loved, LOVED it!! Caitlyn and Gideon’s story was one of the best so far. I feel like I can totally imagine exactly what Twilight, Texas looks like in my mind. Thanks Lori for another good read!!
This has been a delightful series! I have been eagerly awaiting this next installment.
Since it’s the freshest in my mind, I’d have to say First Love Coookie Club is my fav. But really it’s whatever one of her books I last read. Next my fave will be Welcome Home Garden Club 🙂
I like a love story I can sink my teeth into, and when I heard the plot of the Welcome Home Garden Club, I knew I had to read it! (I’m on a long list of holds at my library for it.) It will be my first Lori Wilde book. I’m excited to give it a try.
Have read the first 3 in this series and loved them having a hard time finding this one but i will prevail
This is a great series. “Charmed and Dangerous” is my favorite.
I NEVER READ A BAD BOOK OF LORI’S AND I’M ALWAYS TOO LATE TO POST AND WIN.
Addicted to Love is one of my favorites.

Best wishes on the new release.
My favorite is There Goes the Bride, tho it is hard to choose. LOL.
All of Lori’s books are so good; it is hard to choose, but since I have to, I will say The First Love Cookie Club.
This book sounds terriffic. I can’t wait to read this story and I hope I win it. Unfortunately, I haven’t read any of her books, but this one sounds like a good place to start.
I read First Love Cookie Club when I was on a Christmas book kick in December and totally adored it. Definitely my fave of all the books I read, so sweet and beautifully written 🙂
