Series: Black Knights Inc. book #4
Author: Julie Ann Walker
Genre: Contemporary Romance
HE’S GONE ROGUE
Ex-Navy SEAL Rock Babineaux’s job is to get information, and he’s one of the best in the business. Until something goes horribly wrong and he’s being hunted by his own government. Even his best friends at the covert special-ops organization Black Knights Inc. aren’t sure they can trust him. He thinks he can outrun them all, but his former partner—a curvy bombshell who knows just how to drive him wild—refuses to cut him loose.
SHE WON’T BACK DOWN
Vanessa Cordera hasn’t been the team’s communication specialist very long, but she knows how to read people-no way is Rock guilty of murder. And she’ll go to hell and back to help him prove it. Sure, the sexy Cajun has his secrets, but there’s no one in the world she’d rather have by her side in a tight spot. Which is good, because they’re about to get very tight…
There’s nothing I enjoy more than a good series!! I become vested in characters and want to see them return as secondary characters book after book after book. Lauren Dane, Carly Phillips, Lori Foster (just to name a few) – they have mastered the art of the series and I will be the first in line when they have something new coming out. With the BKI series, I am officially adding Julie Ann Walker to that list!! This series just keeps getting better and all of the characters I have rooted for and witnessed find their HEA are front and center in each new book.
Nate “Ghost” and Ali, Frank “Boss” and Becky, Jake “The Snake” and Michelle and now we get to read the story of Rock and Vanessa. We got a peak at the chemistry between these two in book #3. This book picks up 6 months later in Costa Rica. Forced into hiding when he is accused of going rogue, Rock is searching for the answers to prove his innocence. The team is determined to help but Rock feels he needs to keep the team from landing in the middle of his mess.
This book is a wild ride that kept me on the edge of my seat and threw me curve after curve. Who is Rwanda Don? Who is The Cleaner? Add to the suspense the sizzle that IS Rock Babineaux and my heart was racing. With his sexy Cajun drawl, his use of French terms of endearment and his finely honed body, Vanessa is a goner. I appreciated that she embraced her feelings for Rock while at the same time coming to terms with the fact that he may never feel the same for her. Her courage and ability to stand by her man made me cheer for her even more!
Favorite quote: “Mon dieu, her liked her. Considered her damn near perfect, in fact. Because along with being tough and beautiful and lusty, she was also spunky as hell. The combination was Kryptonite to his Superman.” SIGHHHHH
How in the world am I supposed to wait until September for Billy and Eve’s story??!!
Grade: A+
Great review I really want to read this series. And September is not so far away, usually you have to wait a whole year for the next book!
Thanks for reading and reviewing! 😀
