Series: Dark Hunter Universe bk 32
Author: Sherrilyn Kenyon
Genre: Paranormal
The Mayans aren’t the only ones with a 2012 prophecy…
Long before recorded history, there was a warrior so feared that everyone trembled before his wrath. Only a brutal betrayal by the one closest to him could defeat him. But not even death was the end of a man so strong.
The Time Untime approaches…
Kateri Avani has been plagued her entire life with dreams she doesn’t understand. Images of places she’s never been and of a man she’s never seen. Her quest for answers has driven her to Las Vegas where she hopes to finally silence the demons in her mind.
What she never anticipates is coming face to face with the warrior who has haunted her her entire life.
Ren Waya came back from the dead to keep the prophecy he began from coming true and ending the world. For thousands of years, he has fought the same evil that once possessed him. But now that evil has brought back the one person he can’t fight. The one person who once held the most sacred part of him.
His heart.
But if he doesn’t kill Kateri, the deadliest of evils will reemerge and destroy everyone else on the planet. It was a sacrifice he made once.
Will he be able to make it again?
Ok I have to preface this review with a little back story on my. I grew up in a part of the country that has a lot of Native American Tribes. In fact the state I grew up in is named after one of those tribes. As such I was raised on Native American Folklore and legends. One of my earliest school memories is of one of classmates tribe coming to my school to perform the Sun Ceremony for us in full Native American dress. It was one of the most impressive sights I can remember seeing.
So after reading Retribution I knew there was going to be even more Native American and South American mythology in Time Untime and couldn’t wait.
I have to say the book doesn’t disappoint. One of the reasons I love this series so much is because we get a look at all the ancient Pantheons and what made them unique to their people and cultures. And I have to say I don’t envy Sherrilyn her research 🙂
ok time for the review…
Ren is an interesting character we first got to meet in Zarek’s book Dance with the Devil (one of my personal favorites). While we didn’t know much about his we certainly were intrigued. Ok I was intrigued. In Sundown’s book Retribution we find out more about Ren and his past. But it is in this book we find out everything. And I have to say that while I thought Acheron’s past was nasty and ugly, Ren’s was almost as bad. I won’t go into details because I think it gives a lot to of the story and plot away. Just know he has a kindred spirit in Acheron.
Kateri is one amazing heroine. She’s a scientist who doesn’t believe in things she can’t see and thinks all the stories her grandmother told her are just that stories. So when she is suddenly thrust into a battle she doesn’t believe in and a life she never wanted she rolls with it. Well once she realizes that she isn’t crazy.
The relationship between Ren and Kateri is one I really enjoyed reading about. Because of who and what they are, thanks to their parents, they both have the ability to have visions and see the past. Which helps them with their feelings.
Because it’s a Dark-Hunter book you know there are more than just the hero and heroine in this book. In Time Untime we get lots of Acheron (YEAH), Sasha (a bit more about his past and can I add I really want his story), a new Dark-Hunter Cabeza (He’s an ancient Mayan Prince), Sundown (of course we have to have Ren’s best friend), Urian (because Ash needed to send someone while he does his thing) of and Nick.
And here’s the best part…WE FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HIM AND WHAT’S REALLY GOING ON WITH HIM!!! AND WHY HE REALLY HATES ASH! AND IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK, AND I REALLY REALLY REALLY WANT HIS STORY NOW!!!
I’m not joking there’s this really awesome scene between the two of them that made my heart hurt for them and I have a feeling before it’s over Nick and Ash will be best friends once again. Especially as Nick was his awesome sarcastic self full of Cajun humor.
So in case I have left you in any doubt I absolutely loved this book. And if you love this series you won’t want to miss this book. TRUST ME!!
Grade: A
Ok – after reading this review I have to get back and get caught up with this series. I stopped reading it after Acheron’s book because I thought there was not way she could top Ash’s book (Ash’s book is probably my favorite book of all time).
