Whisper Falls

Destiny bk 3

Toni Blake

Welcome to Destiny, Ohio—where coming home means finding your true heart and maybe even your true love.

Tessa Sheridan came crawling back home to Destiny after her big city interior design career crumbled. Now not only must she struggle to make ends meet, she has to contend with a biker next door and the roar of Harleys shattering the serenity of her cabin in the woods. Worse still, her sexy bad boy neighbor makes her feel breathless and weak—and shy, petite Tessa knows what a major mistake it would be to get involved with someone so…dangerous.

They say that former teen rebel Lucky Romo has a dark, secret past—that he’s trouble with a capital “T.” Still, Tessa feels all tingly when she sees how well he fills out a pair of tight jeans. And when Lucky invites her into his world, she knows the intense heat sparking between them could lead her somewhere wild and wonderful…and, yes, dangerous!

This is the first book of Toni’s that I have read and I enjoyed reading it. It took me a bit, to get into the book, but once I did I couldn’t put it down.

Lucky is a man with a past, a past he has been running from for years, he has come home to Destiny because he needs to make some changes. He has secrets from his past that make him not want to reconnect with anyone in his home town especially his family. What he doesn’t expect is his new neighbor Tessa, she is so far removed from what he is used to.

I loved everything about Lucky, well except the way he looked, because well to be honest it does nothing for me. This is a guy that has had a rough life, he has made some choices that have affected his entire adult life. Some of these were because of what happened when he was a child, and he was trying to escape and find something that would give him what he had lost. Then he gets a phone call that changes everything for him, and he comes home.

Tessa does not want to be defined by her illness that has literally taken over her life, she has Chrones Disease and has had to change everything in her life. When she gets a new neighbor all she can think about is how loud and noisy he is with motorcycles going by at all times disturbing her quiet.

I liked Tessa and felt that she was the perfect compliment to Lucky, however I never really connected with her. She had the perfect life until her body turned on her and she now lives day to day, enjoying each day as it comes. What she never expected was to like someone like Lucky. She is no pushover and but is a very compassionate person and is able to help Lucky as he adjusts to the changes in his life.

There were some things about this book that upon reflection bugged me. When Tessa is telling how she came to be back in Destiny and about how she got sick, she talked about the symptoms but never really explained the disease, at least that I remember (if I am wrong someone please tell me). The author just assumed that we all know what Chrone’s Disease is, I in fact had to look it up.

I also never really felt a connection with Tessa, I kept waiting for it to happen and yet it never did, other than the fact that she has a disease and is an interior decorator there was nothing that I remembered about her.

Over all I enjoyed the book and will most likely read the other books in this series.
