Blurb: READY FOR TROUBLE…Stacy Washington needs a change. After being unceremoniously dumped by her long-time boyfriend, she’s on her way to one of the hottest clubs in town-and ready to shed her good-girl persona. Good-bye, inhibitions; hello, sexy bartender . …Behind the counter, Evan is a sight to behold: dark, good looks, and a killer smile. But before Stacy has a chance to get to know him better, an equally sexy prospect comes her way, and this one is ready to play. Blond, tattooed Justin is not shy about telling Stacy exactly what he wants. Justin and Evan are best friends, but that doesn’t stop them from letting Stacy know they’d like to see where the night can take them-all of them. This could be a tricky situation-or the most exhilarating experience of Stacy’s life . . .
Thoughts: There were a few issues I had when it came to this book, and I’m just going to touch on a few of them here. Stacy is a woman who has been hurt in a relationship, and she’s decided she needs to be a little more liberated. Which is all well and good, but she takes it a bit to the extreme. While she does meet both men in the same night, and is attracted to both of them. However, she takes only one of them home with her. She then comes back a week later with the intent of hooking up with the second guy. All this one-on-one action occurs before any menege scene, and made the idea of them all three together a bit unbelievable. Made even worse by the fact that she had never even had a one night stand before. Yet now she is comfortable flipping back and forth between the two men like changing her socks. Before we ever got to any menage action, I was already a bit turned off from the book.
Another factor is the length. This is becoming more and more of an issue with me, since I see numerous authors put out ‘novellas’ – when really the short length does not do justice to the book. If you can do it within the scope of that length and not make it seem crammed together, rushed, and missing half the story…that’s fine. However, this one has joined a long line of others for me – ones that make me feel a little cheated.
And then we have the ending! Talk about non-realistic! I don’t want to give too much away, so I’m not going to give too many details, but there is a surprise cliffhanger that you should be prepared to get a little upset about. Overall, there were a lot of issues that just tweaked me the wrong way, the characters could have been a bit more developed and realistic, and the short length just didn’t help the cause any.
