Chaos Rises by Pippa DaCosta

cover91724-mediumTitle:  A Chaos Rises

Series:  Chaos Rises Book #1

Author:  Pippa DaCosta

Genre:  Paranormal, Urban Fantasy

Blurb:   ‘When the veil fell, any half bloods not strong enough to withstand Chaos were torn apart. Some, like me and my brother, survived The Fall. Most did not.

That’s the good news. The bad news saw a whole other world try and devour ours. Demons, we call them. They came in countless waves. Destroying. Killing. Many people thought it was the end…

The Fall lasted a week.

Tens of thousands died.

Hell almost claimed our world as its own.

And then, from one day to the next, it was over. The veil came back, stronger than ever. I’m not sure if anyone knows how it was put right. But I do know it’s been six months since The Fall, me and my brother are on the run, and the leftover demons aren’t the most dangerous things in LA.
We are.’

ThoughtsChaos Rises is a new series that features the same world as DaCosta’s Veil series.  Having never read anything by DaCosta before, I came into this series with a fresh pair of eyes.  I was fascinated with the Veil world.  In the beginning, I was under the impression that this was just going to be just another book of urban-fantasy, with a demon-filled-world and a strong female lead that followed the stereotypical urban fantasy type format.  The author had a talent for not only keeping things interesting, but just when I figure I know where the story is going and what the character is doing, things get interesting and turn my ideals all around.  After this book, I’m a fan!  I went straight from finishing the book to looking for more books by the author…not to mention following her on Amazon, ‘liking’ her on Facebook, etc.  Frankly, I want to know when the next book comes out in this series!  Not to mention to explore the rest of her novels!
