Series: Night Prowler Book #5
Author: J.T Geissinger
Genre: Paranormal/Romance
Blurb: Tough, smart, and seriously ambitious, reporter Jacqueline “Jack” Dolan despises the secretive clan of shape-shifters known as the Ikati—and has become determined to destroy them. After she writes an editorial arguing for their extermination and turns public opinion against them, the Ikati vow to fight back. They plot to send one of their own to seduce the reporter, then blackmail her into writing a retraction. Women practically fall at the feet of hulking, handsome Hawk Luna, and Hawk relishes the idea of conquering and destroying the fiery redhead who’s caused so much trouble for his kind. The last thing he expects is to develop real feelings for her, but their liaison awakens a hunger in him that he cannot deny. He kidnaps Jack and brings her to his Amazon jungle colony, but the two lovers are soon embroiled in deadly colony politics and threatened by a looming global species war. As the danger around them grows closer, Jack and Hawk’s forbidden passion may build a bridge between two ancient enemies—or cost them both their lives.
Thoughts: I absolutely adore J.T Geissinger’s books, and if you’re a fan of paranormal romance, she is a definite must read! I definitely recommend reading the previous books, though. While you can follow along with no problem and still have a great experience with the book, there is so much history with other characters, that I think to get the most out of the series it’s best to start at the beginning. I have to admit that this one started off a bit slow for me, but – WOW! – did that ever straighten itself out. Midway, I was completely sold on this book, and by the end? Let’s just say this one ranks right up there as one of my favorites in the series.
If there was ever anyone more perfect for each other, its Jacqueline and Hawk. They each have hard such hardship and trauma in the past, and their personalities work so well together that I felt such an amazing kinship with them. I loved how their story unfolded. Not to mention we finally get to see some bad guys get what’s been coming to them, visit some old friends from previous books, and learn more about Jenna’s twins and their mysterious powers.
I adored this book! I love J.T’s world, and – of course – the conclusion of the love story is enough to have my romantic heart fluttering!
Best of all? We have a great build-up for the next book…which I will be waiting on pins and needles for! I’m normally not a fan of cliffhanger endings (though this one is disguised as more of an epilogue), but J.T strikes a good balance of giving you a conclusion – yet still leave you wanting more with the next book. The hardest part is the waiting!
