Title: Dead, Undead, or Somewhere In Between
Series: Rhiannon’s Law Book #1
Author: J.A. Saare
Genre: Paranormal/Sci-Fi Fantasy
Blurb: One bad corpse can ruin your whole day.
After leaving the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York, Rhiannon Murphy is eager for a clean slate and fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance, she’s managed to keep her nasty habit of seeing dead people hidden from those around her–until now.
The dangerous and deliciously sexy vampire, Disco, knows her secret. When he strolls into her club to ask for help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind, she quickly gets the vibe that he’s not exactly the kind of guy you tell no.
Yet in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone is killing vampires to steal their hearts and, unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.
This book has been previously published.
Warning: Includes violence, strong language, and references to sexual abuse that may disturb some readers. Oblique references to ’80s films are hidden here and there, which could result in tickling your geek-like fancy.
Thoughts: It didn’t take me long before I realized I had stumbled on something special in this book. This is one of those main characters that just – grabbed me – and I become so caught up in the character and their story – their whole world really – that I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. But what makes it even more compelling (yes, compelling) is not just that one sole character, but the whole ensemble of secondary characters that just made up this complete cast of characters. Characters that you just simply can’t get enough of. This book had everything I want in a book – characters that you just love to read about, an amazing and engaging story, witty banter, and an excellently skilled author at the helm of it all.
I was just as quick to realize that I had found an amazing new series that I wanted more of – and an author that I definitely want to read more from. I wasted absolutely no time in pre-ordering the next book in this series, The Renfield Syndrome, and I’m sure I will be grabbing up any and all other books I can get from this author. I LOVED this book, absolutely LOVED these characters, and I look forward to reading more about them in the next book! Blown away by the talent of this author and she definitely has a fan in me! A+ for sure!
