Drakon’s Promise by N.J. Walters

Title:  Drakon’s Promise

Series:  Blood of the Drakon Book #1

Author:  N.J. Walters

Genre:  Romance, Paranormal, Shifters

Blurb:   Darius Varkas is a drakon. He’s neither human nor dragon.

He’s both.

He’s also the target of an ancient order who want to capture all drakons for their blood. When fresh, a drakon’s blood can cure any illness and prolong a human’s life, and the Knights will stop at nothing to get it.

When librarian Sarah Anderson stumbles across a rare book belonging to the Knights of the Dragon, she’s quickly thrust into a dangerous world of secrets and shifters and things she never would have believed possible. When the Knights realize Sarah has a secret of her own, she becomes just as much a target as Darius. Her scary dragon shifter just might be her best chance at survival.

Thoughts:  N.J. Walters has become one of those great authors that I’m willing to one-click before I even read the blurb – and I have yet to read a book that I have been unsatisfied with.  It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for paranormal reads, but especially shifter books – any kind of shifter books.  Those who love this genre knows that a good dragon book is hard to find, and I have to say Drakon’s Promise has sailed right to the top as my favorite among the dragon shifter books.  It is also first of a series, so we have the anticipation of more books to come!

I love the characters – including the secondary ones that I envision will have their own book somewhere down the line.  In many ways, the storyline is typical of the many books out there in this genre, however the author manages to had her own twist on things that makes this an original all its own.  For the first in a series, the author also managed to do an excellent job of telling the story yet maintaining a good balance of world building without making the story to dry.

All in all, another great read by this author and a great start to a new series!  Specifically if you are a fan of shifter book – and dragons!
