Force of Temptation by Suzanne Wright

Title:  Force of Temptation

Series:  Mercury Pack Book #2

Author:  Suzanne Wright

Genre:  Romance, Paranormal

Blurb:   Harley Vincent is resigned to life in the human world. Sure, being a margay shifter is half her nature, but life among humans gives her the freedom to roam and do as she pleases. That is, until anti-shifter extremists target her, putting her life in immediate danger.

When an old acquaintance and onetime fling, Jesse Dalton, shows up to offer the protection of his pack, Harley hesitates. She may have feelings for Jesse that go beyond their one-night stand, but life among shifters means giving over her independence to the needs of pack. Plus Mercury Pack has its own threat to face: a rich half-shifter is determined to claim their territory at any cost.

Jesse, who lost his true mate as a child, has wanted Harley since their night together, and he’s not letting her go again. They may not be destined for each other, but he knows she belongs to him and with his pack. Even if he can convince her to join him now, can he convince her to stay?

Thoughts:  As always, Suzanne Wright issues a spellbinding read.  Her characters are always so vivid and she really draws you into the story and the world.  I loved the Phoenix pack series, and really enjoyed the first book in the new Mercury pack series.  While I really, really enjoyed this one, it bothered me a little that in Jesse’s case the whole ‘true mate’ as a child story kept resurfacing over and over again and making their connection out to be way more than it was.  Other than that it was another amazing tale from Wright!

I also loved getting a margay cat in a predominantly wolf pack!  It was interesting to see that play out in this book and also get another chance to check in with our favorite characters from some of the previous books.

As always, well done – and eager for more!

I don’t think Harley got a fair shot in this book Jesse found and had his true mate, but he took hers away and didn’t care. I can deal with them not being true mates had she had the chance to meet hers, now there is someone out there without a mate, unfair. I hope the next one is better and fair on both sides.
