Series: Oxford Book #2
Author: Lauren Layne
Genre: Romance
Blurb: A year ago, Jackson Burke was married to the love of his life and playing quarterback for the Texas Redhawks. Now he’s retired, courtesy of the car accident that ruined his career—and single, after a nasty scandal torpedoed his marriage. Just as he’s starting to get used to his new life as a health and fitness columnist for Oxford magazine, his unpredictable ex shows up on his doorstep in Manhattan. Jackson should be thrilled. But he can’t stop thinking about the one person who’s always been there for him, the one girl he could never have: her younger sister.
Mollie Carrington can’t say no to Madison. After all, her older sister practically raised her. So when Madison begs for help in winning her ex-husband back, Mollie’s just glad she got over her own crush on Jackson ages ago—or so she thought. Because as Mollie reconnects with Jackson, she quickly forgets all her reasons to stay loyal to her sister. Tempted by Jackson’s mellow drawl and cowboy good looks, Mollie is sick and tired of coming in second place. But she can’t win if she doesn’t play the game.
Thoughts: I Wish You Were Mine is an excellent forbidden type romance. Mollie has always been in love with Jackson Burke, but he marries her sister and doesn’t think of her in a romantic way. However, Mollie is always there for him – in ways his wife never is. So when they reconnect and Mollie needs a little help, Jackson opens his doors to her – never expecting the sparks that lay between to turn into a wildfire that he doubts they will ever be able to douse! Needless to say, when big sister Madison shows up playing games to get him back, none of their ties to each other and their relationships will remain the same.
I thoroughly enjoyed Lauren Layne’s forbidden little romance. Layne told the story well, letting things simmer between the couple as they fought their attraction to one another. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but I wound up thoroughly enjoying it!

This was a really great romance for me. It surprised me as I didn’t think I would be a fan of this kind of romance but Lauren Layne did a great job with their story. I loved both Jackson and Mollie and I cannot wait for Lincoln’s book! Great review!
