New Release and Review: The King by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The King by Jennifer L. Armentrout
(A Wicked Novella)

Blurb:

From #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout comes the next installment in her Wicked series.

As Caden and Brighton’s attraction grows despite the odds stacked against a happily ever after, they must work together to stop an Ancient fae from releasing the Queen, who wants nothing more than to see Caden become the evil Prince once feared by fae and mortals alike.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

My Thoughts:

I have been dying for The King and to be back in the Wicked world, and let me just tell you The King was EVERYTHING! The depth of story and character development packed into this novella was amazing.

One thing I love about the 1001 Dark Nights novellas is that each one can be read as a standalone. They are intended to give you a story so interesting you WANT to go back and read more about the characters involved in them. Honestly how could you not want more Brighton and Caden? Or want to know more about Ivy and Ren? Now, if you haven’t read the Wicked Series, don’t fret. Jennifer L. Armentrout does an amazing job catching the reader up on past events, so you won’t be lost I promise you that, but I highly recommend you read the Wicked Series and The Prince at some point because…..

  1. It follows a badass fae hunter and her friends while she falls in love and discovers her true self, all while trying to save the human world. And
  2. Passionflix will begin filming Wicked soon! So yeah, definitely read it. You’ve got some time to get caught up…but right now let’s focus on The King!

This novella packed a punch.  I could not put it down! I love Brighton. I love watching her blossom into a warrior. I also love that she doesn’t fawn all over Caden. She may be the only one who treats him like a “regular person.” In this novella, we also get a more unfiltered Caden. In The Prince, he came across more guarded and careful with his words and how he presented himself, so I enjoyed seeing that other side of him this time. There is drama and some big issues that Caden, The Fae Summer Court, and The Order need to figure out, and an unexpected twist I don’t think any of us saw coming.  Once again I was completely drawn into Brighton and Caden’s story. I absolutely can’t wait for what’s in store in the next novella!
