Book 2 in London’s Greatest Lovers series By Lorraine Heath release date 12/1/10
As the black sheep second son of an earl, Stephen Lyons has gained a reputation in the art of seduction, but when his wicked ways result in scandal, he enlists in the army to redeem himself. On the battlefield, he proves courageous…until he is seriously wounded. Returning home to recover, he discovers he can’t remember the angelic beauty who arrives at his doorstep, his babe nestled in her arms.
Mercy Dawson will risk everything to protect the son of the dashing soldier she once knew and admired. When Stephen offers to do the honorable thing, she is determined that London’s most notorious gentleman will desire her and no other. But Mercy fears that what began as an innocent deception could destroy her dreams and their blossoming love if Stephen ever learns the scandalous truth…
We met Stephen in Passions of a Wicked Earl in fact his carefree attitude and playboy ways are what initially caused the rift between Claire & Westcliffe. He is now home from the war with both physical and mental injuries having no memories of anything that happened while he was there.
All Mercy wants is her son to know his fathers family, goes to them thinking that Stephen had died only to find that he is still alive but does not know her, in some ways this does work to her advantage as she has secrets that would be better off not know.
To keep Mercy with her son Stephen decides to do the honorable thing and marry her not realizing that this is the one person he can honestly love. This is all good until the past comes back to haunt them both, some memories are better off forgotten.
This second book in the series is better than the first one and well on the way to becoming one of my favorites with characters which I will enjoy hearing more from. Won’t be able to wait until Ainsley’s book in July!
Grade A
I have only read one book so far by this author, there are several more on my shelf. But this does sound good. Nice review.
Sounds a little different from the typical……and that cover, wowzer!
