Reasons
Tracy Fabre

From the back cover of Reasons:  Delphi Brent, seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident as a teenager, is ready to spend the summer with old family friends when her parents make a distressing confession: the driver of the car that nearly killed her was one of the three sons of the Laughlin family she’s about to visit. They urge her to stay home and let the past be, but she resolves to go out West anyway to learn the truth about what happened the night she was struck and one of the Laughlin sons died. However, in reconnecting with the Laughlins, who operate a sprawling ranch in Colorado, Delphi learns a lot not only about brothers and families, but also about the reasons people keep secrets, and what to do with the truth once it’s uncovered. She also falls in love with one of the Laughlin brothers, which wasn’t part of the plan at all.

REVIEW: I have had this book sitting on my tbr pile for a while now, I knew it was there however I had so many other books before it that I told myself that I would read it before the end of January no matter what. Especially as I was going to be interviewing the author for this blog.

As I began the book I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it, so I skipped ahead a bit to see if I liked it and I did. Delphi is a girl whose life has been shaped by one incident in her life a hit and run accident when she was  teen-ager that left her in very bad shape.

When she makes the decision to return to Colorado to visit the family that at one point were her parents best friends she sets in motion a series of events that will change everybody. What Delphi didn’t count on was Tam. As she reconnects with the family and discovers secrets that have been hidden since the day of her fateful accident she realizes that there was way more to that day then she knew and her life wasn’t the only one that was affected. What she never counted on was the real reason of why the hit and run had happened.

I really enjoyed this book. It is one that made me stop and think how my actions affect those around me, whether it be in the positive or the negative. I liked how with each new secret that was revealed how she and those around her had to adjust their thinking to take into consideration the events of that day and how it affected everyone.

I wasn’t sure how this book would end and if I would even like the ending and I have to say that as this book ends the biggest secret of all is revealed and is one that will change her life the biggest. As I read this part of the book I had to nod my head and say this ended the only way that it could have.

I give this book a 4 out of 5.
