Review: The Prince by Jennifer Armentrout

Title:The Prince (A 1001 Dark Nights Novella)

Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout

Blurb:

She’s everything he wants….

Cold. Heartless. Deadly. Whispers of his name alone bring fear to fae and mortals alike. The Prince. There is nothing in the mortal world more dangerous than him. Haunted by a past he couldn’t control, all Caden desires is revenge against those who’d wronged him, trapping him in never-ending nightmare. And there is one person he knows can help him.

She’s everything he can’t have…

Raised within the Order, Brighton Jussier knows just how dangerous the Prince is, reformed or not. She’d seen firsthand what atrocities he could be capable of. The last thing she wants to do is help him, but he leaves her little choice. Forced to work alongside him, she begins to see the man under the bitter ice. Yearning for him feels like the definition of insanity, but there’s no denying the heat in his touch and the wicked promise is his stare.

She’s everything he’ll take….

But there’s someone out there who wants to return the Prince to his former self. A walking, breathing nightmare that is hell bent on destroying the world and everyone close to him. The last thing either of them needs is a distraction, but with the attraction growing between them each now, the one thing he wants more than anything may be the one thing that will be his undoing.

She’s everything he’d die for….

Thoughts:

I absolutely loved the Wicked Series and was so curious about the Prince and what happened to him after he escaped the queen.  So to say I was excited for this novella is an understatement! But I couldn’t even begin to imagine how fantastic it would be. Now, if you haven’t read the Wicked Series don’t fret. The Prince is written as a standalone, but I highly recommend you read the Wicked Series at some point; 1) Because it follows a badass fae hunter and her friends while she falls in love, discovers herself,  while trying to save the human world. And 2.) Passionflix will begin filming Wicked this November! So yeah, definitely read it. You’ve got some time to get caught up..but right now let’s focus on The Prince!

The Prince picks up two years after the events in Brave and the Winter Fae attack on the order. Brighton grew up in The Order, but has always had a more unconventional job. However, after the Winter Fae attacked her and her mother, she took on the role of vigilante to hunt them down. She never expected to cross paths with the Prince. The Prince, who has remained a mystery since he was saved, is now everywhere she is.  Before she knows it she’s working along side him. They are drawn to one another, and the more they try to deny their attraction the closer it pulls them in.

Armentrout did an amazing job bringing these two characters together. The chemistry between Brighton and Caden is off the charts! But it’s so much more than that.  You see it in Caden’s actions and the things he says to Brighton. It leaves you yearning for more.  She packed so much into this novella! There’s so much brewing between Brighton and Caden, there’s more going on in the fae world, and of course all our favorites from the Wicked Series are there as well. She leaves us wanting more for sure, but don’t worry there will be more for Brighton and Caden in The King!
