Series: Phoenix Pack Book #5
Author: Suzanne Wright
Genre: Romance, Paranormal, Shifter
Blurb: She’s a lone wolf with a cause.
As a volunteer at a shelter for lone shifters—the same one that rescued her—Makenna Wray has dedicated her life to finding homes for its residents. And when she discovers that a teen in her care is related to Ryan Conner, the broody, handsome-as-sin enforcer of the Phoenix Pack, she’s eager to help connect the two. She just wasn’t prepared to feel a connection of her own.
Lone wolves are loners for a reason—and most of them bad. Or so Ryan assumes until he meets the mysterious Makenna. Quirky and sensual, she seems to enjoy riling him, especially when she refuses to discuss her past. Although there is no mating bond, he’s sure she’s the one. All he has to do is be patient and wait. But when another pack’s sinister Alpha comes sniffing around, threatening Makenna and her shelter, this enforcer is ready to let his wolf off the leash.…
Thoughts: I am a big fan of Suzanne Wright and have never been disappointed by one of her books yet. She’s one of those authors that no matter the title, the blurb, the cover – I’m grabbing this book! Here books could quickly become you one-click addiction on Amazon. The books are just that good. From book one of this series, I have been hooked….and this latest installment is no different. I loved it….I mean love, love, LOVED it! Suzanne Wright has a talent for writing with such a passionate flare and with such depth that I am completely enthralled with her as a writer. Savage Urges actually had my heart aching in my chest at times…she’s just that talented at pulling you into the story and getting you fully invested in these characters. Another amazing book from one of my favorite authors!
Fair warning, however….her books are all about alpha males who can be a bit on the dominating and bossy side. What do you expect – they are shifters? These shifters can be rough and tough, and when it comes to sex it’s no different. I can picture a few reader reviews that might mark it down based on the fact that occasionally the sex borderlines on pain or violence. I have to say though that in real life – some people do like their sex a little rough. Not to mention that it is similar to a cultural thing here in the real world – these individuals are shifters and that makes them different from humans. They have different beliefs and different ways of doing things – and yes, that comes to mating. Do I need that in my books? No. However, I’m not going to stop reading an amazing author because of it. If this kind of thing is no-go for you, then the books just might not be for you. Period.
Me? I wouldn’t miss it!!
