Serpentine by Laurell K. Hamilton

Title: Serpentine

Series: Anita Blake Book #26

Stand Alone Title: recommended in order
Author: Laurell K. Hamilton

Genre:  Romance

Blurb: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, returns for her twenty-sixth adventure. Fans of Charlaine Harris and Anne Rice will delight in this series by Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author Laurell K. Hamilton. ‘A hardcore guilty pleasure’ – The Times Anita Blake faces new, even deadlier enemies as she and the people she loves confront major changes in their lives…

Favorite quote(s): “It is not power that makes someone evil; it is what they do with that power.”

“Hope is a lying b&%$h sometimes.”

“B&%$hes be crazy, and men are stupid; it’s all hard.”

“When I met Anita she was like the untouchable virgin and I was the man whore.  When did I become the more conservative one?”

“Well, Otto, I’d always planned on killing you as sort of a group project.”

Thoughts: This is the classic Anita Blake that I have been missing.  This one has more of the vibe and feel of Hamilton’s earlier works that I think will make some of her other readers and fans happy.  Not to mention we finally get the reappearance of Otto – which I have been impatiently waiting for after all the tension in previous books.  I loved it!  Honestly, I wasn’t as impressed with the ‘bad guy’ and that whole storyline as I usually would be – it seemed more of an afterthought and not as impressive as previous ‘baddies’.  But the classic Anita vibe in this one more than makes up for it.  Serpentine is a breath of fresh air for this series, and has renewed my excitement for this series!

Can’t wait for more from Laurell K. Hamilton!
