Series: Salvation Pack Book #9
Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: N.J. Walters
Genre: Paranormal, Romance
Blurb: Mikhail Matheson came to Salvation for his sister, but he stayed for Elise LaForge. She’s the alpha’s mother and the most fascinating woman he’s ever laid his eyes on. He’s wanted her from the first moment he saw her. He may feel like an outsider in the pack, but there’s no way he can leave when he’s sure Elise is his mate.
Elise’s made a home in North Carolina with her adult sons and their pack. It’s taken her a long time to get over the years she spent with her abusive mate, and while she’s content now, she can’t help but feel there’s something missing in her life. Mikhail stirs emotions in her she never expected to feel, and the attraction between them is off the charts. But Elise’s not sure how her sons and the pack will react, not to mention the danger the pack is facing.
Favorite quote(s): “What can I say? I’m more than a handful.”
Thoughts: Having read prior books in the series, I can say this one has a different feel to it compared to the others. This is a bit of a slow burn, but well worth reading. I had been waiting and hoping that Elise, the pack alpha’s mother, would get her own book later on. Wolf of Her Own features Elise’s story, so it also about an older set of character’s falling in love – it’s not really overly noticeable – for those who may worry about this – except perhaps when they talk about Elise’s grandbabies. For me, it was nice to read about an older couple finding love. I loved Mikhail’s patience with Elise and his ability to fight his wolf instincts and hold back, taking things at Elise’s pace, rather than rushing into claiming her like his instincts demanded. Like I said, a slow, but infinitely sweet burn and one of my favorites in this series.
