Why is it that you don’t know the depths of your mistakes until you’ve already
made them? I knew signing those papers was a bad idea, but I thought that’s
what she wanted. The minute we stepped foot out of that courtroom, it hit me.
She’s no longer mine.
That’s when I also realized that I would do anything to change the past. I have
so many regrets. Not her. I could never regret her, but how we ended. We never
should have ended. I’m in for the battle of my life to convince her to give us
another shot. I have a plan, one that will prove to her that it’s not over.
Thoughts: Typically, I enjoy a guy trying to win back his wife, and I really wanted to like this book. I think the biggest issue for me was the lack of balance between the characters. I enjoyed Harrison’s character a lot more than Gwen. I could almost feel his emotions for Gwen as he struggled with their separation and divorce. Gwen, on the other hand, I felt like didn’t care as much about Harrison as he did about her – I just struggled to feel her connection to him, and frankly her whole character was just lackluster. Her character dragged the whole book down, in my opinion.
The author’s writing was great, and I feel like I could possibly enjoy other books by either of them. But in this case, Gwen’s character just ruined the book for me.
