Holiday Fun with Melissa Schroeder

Today Melissa Schroeder is sharing one of her favorite holiday recipes with us. I love recipes that have been handed down as they make for a sweeter holiday.

This is an old Czech recipe that has been handed down in our family and is included in The Write Ingredients from Samhain.

Favorite books, hmm, I love to read some books set in the winter. Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas comes to mind. I also love to dig into Harry Potter that time of year. I do have favorite movies to watch. A Christmas Story plays all day in our house when TNT does the 24 hours of it, but I also love The Ref, Dennis Leary at his sarcastic best with a great supporting cast. For the first time in more than a dozen years, we are making a trip back to be with our family this holiday. I can’t wait to have a serving or three of these nut rolls.

Grandma Bodnar’s Nut Rolls

Ingredients:

Dough:

1 cup lukewarm milk

2 eggs

3 envelopes yeast

1/2 cup butter

1/4 cup sugar

1 tsp. salt

4 cups flour

Filling (mix together):

1-1/2 cup walnuts or pecans

1 cup sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

1/2 cup milk

1 egg white

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Crumble yeast into warm milk. Add to rest of dough ingredients and mix well until hands are clean from dough. Let rise 1 hour in a warm place. Roll out to about 1/4 inch thick and spread with filling, not too close to edge. Roll up and seal all edges so filling doesn’t leak out.  Let rise 1 hour again. Bake and brush with butter. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Infatuation by Melissa Schroeder

Title: Infatuation

Series: Military Harmless bk 1

Author: Melissa Schroeder

Genre: Erotic Romance

To prove her love and save her man, she has to go above and beyond the call of duty.

Francis McKade is a man in lust. He’s had a crush on his best friend’s little sister for years but he has never acted on it. Besides that fact that she’s Malachi’s sister, he’s a Seal and he learned his lesson with his ex-fiancé. Women do not like being left alone for long months at a time. Still, at a wedding in Hawaii anything can happen—and does. Unfortunately, after the best night of his life, he and Mal are called away to one of their most dangerous missions.

Shannon is blown over by Kade. She’s always had a crush on him and after their night together, it starts to feel a little like love. But, after the mission, Kade never calls or writes and she starts to wonder if it was all a dream. Until one night, her brother Mal drags him into her bar and grill and Shannon gets the shock of her life.

Kade isn’t the man Shannon knew in Hawaii, or even the last few years. Twelve hours of torture changes a man, especially one who had never felt so vulnerable. He still can’t shake the terror that keeps him up at night. Worse, he is realizing that the career he loves just might be over.

Shannon is still mad, but she can’t help but hurt for the man she loves. He is darker, a bit more dangerous, but beneath that, he is the Kade she’s known for so many years. When he pushes her to her limits in the bedroom, Shannon refuses to back down. One way or another, this military man is going to learn there is no walking away from love—not while she still has breath in her body.

Warning: This book contains two infatuated lovers, a hard-headed military man, a determined woman, some old friends, and a little taste of New Orleans. Of course, there is a Dom who wants to be in a charge and a sub who wants to challenge him. As always, ice water is suggested while reading. It might be the first military Harmless book, but the only thing that has changed is how hot our hero looks in his uniform—not to mention out of it.

This is an original novella that is approx 32,000 words. It is an interracial military romance with light bdsm.

One of my favorite series is Melissa’s Harmless series. So when I found out she was going to be writing a spin-off series with military men I knew I was in trouble. And man was I.

I have to say that for me it was all about the story between Kade and Shannon and while the sex was amazing I wanted to read about them.

I know I know it’s an erotic book and I skipped the sex. Trust me I will go back to it.

Kade is on smoking hot SEAL and the best friend of Shannon’s brother. He’s not just his best friend he’s in the same unit as Mal, one of his teammates. To say that is one rule you don’t break is an understatement.

Shannon wants Kade. With the encouragement of Mai and Jocelyn she gets him into her room.

What happens next though almost made me cry.

When Kade finally comes back to Shannon, not on his own but dragged by her brother, she isn’t sure she wants anything to do with him. When she unconsciously provokes him into acting on his feelings for her, she figures they are home free and on their way to HEA. She forgot though he isn’t a normal male he’s a SEAL and it takes him a bit longer to get his act together so they can have that HEA. And when he finally pulls his head out of his ass he does it spectacularly.

As civilians we watch these soldiers strap on the armor of a spec ops soldier and go off to defend us and protect us. Never once do we think about what happens to them while their out there, and how it will effect them when they come home.

This is one of those stories that shows us the realities of what these brave men go through and the women that are willing to fight for them when the come home and provide a safe landing place for them when they come home. Even when they don’t want them to.

I loved this book. If you like a quick short story that pays tribute to one of our soldiers and gives them a HEA then you will love this book.

A Little Harmless Submission by Melissa Schroeder

Title: A Little Harmless Submission

Series: Harmless bk 6

Author: Melissa Schroeder

Genre: Erotic Contemporary

For a tough as nails Dom hunting a sadistic serial killer is nothing compared to losing his heart.

Rome Carino is hunting a predator. One who likes to hurt submissives and the most popular BDSM club’s patrons are being targeted.  With each fresh kill, he gets more brazen. Rome knows he just needs one little break, but before he can make headway, the FBI shows up. Worse, the uptight, buttoned-down Special Agent Maria Callahan suggests a plan that is dangerous, but worth it because it might just catch the killer. If Rome can keep his mind on the case and off the beautiful FBI agent, he’ll be just fine.

Maria is still trying to step out of her legendary father’s shadow and knows just how to do it. Luring the killer by posing as Rome’s new sub seems like a good idea. That is, until undercover becomes real life and she finds herself tangled up with a man who amazes and scares her at the same time. Her growing attraction to the Honolulu Police Detective is a little too much to handle. Even knowing that, she can’t help falling in love with the tough Dom and losing herself in the games they play in the bedroom.

Rome is overwhelmed by his need for Maria. He has never had a sub respond to him the way she does and no matter what he does, he feels himself slipping off that cliff into love. As their relationship starts to unfold, he realizes that he will do anything to win her heart, to convince her to become his sub for a lifetime. But before he can do anything, the killer turns his attention on Rome and the one thing he holds dear: Maria.

WARNING: The following book contains: A Dom who thinks he can do no wrong, a new sub who is about to teach him he can, palm trees, a trip or two to Rough ‘n Ready, a flirty Aussie Dom with questionable motives, old friends, and a new enemy. Yeah, it might be called Harmless, but you Addicts know it’s anything but.

I have this little guilty pleasure and it is called the Harmless Series by Melissa Schroeder. In fact I’m an addict and I don’t need any help getting over it.

Ever since Rome showed up in A Little Harmless Obsession I have wanted his story. He was such a great guy in that book, even if he didn’t get the girl. As soon as Melissa said she was writing his book well I upped my twitter stalking of her :) She was a great sport and played along with me. Thanks Melissa

Rome is a guy that has to have complete control over every aspect of his life because of something that happened in his past. He found BDSM as a way to have control. In a very real sense it saved him. The latest string of murders seemed to be linked to Rough n Ready the BDSM club he is member in. While he tries to keep his friends out of the firing range so to speak the fed’s show up.

Maria has huge shoes to fill in the F.B.I. in fact most of her co-workers think she got the job because of her father. After trying to catch a serial killer for the last two years she has a solid plan that will help them get him. With the approval of her boss she heads to Hawaii to catch a killer.

Pairing up with Rome is essential to her plan. I have to say the fireworks when she tells Rome her plan are awesome. There is no way in hell he will let her do what she wants to do. Maria being Maria however finally convinces him it’s the only way.

Watching these two fall in love and deal with not only who they are now, but how the past shaped them, and what they want for the future was one of the best afternoon’s I’ve spent reading. For me this story was more about Maria and her journey to finally being who she was meant to be and not who her dad wanted her to be. The twist of who the murderer was completely threw me and I had to read it a couple of times to make sure I was right.

The usual suspects show up to help both Maria and Rome. Dee and May take Maria shopping which causes both Maria and Rome to have a heartattack but in a really good way. And Micah and Evan being themselves have to harrass Rome about everything. But they are all there to back them up and help them when they need to.

We also get to meet another one of Chris’s siblings Malachi who has a link to Maria and the hot Aussie that Melissa has been teasing us about makes his debut as well. I can’t wait for his story. He is getting a story right Melissa?

This is another excellent installement of this series. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

The Last Detail by Melissa Schroeder

Title: The Last Detail

Author: Melissa Schroeder

Genre: FF&P, Erotic

Trust isn’t easy when the ones you want most are out to get you.

Ten years after she ran away from Earth, Lou Campbell is one job—just one more collar—away from earning enough credits to go home. All she has to do is lure Sam Dawson within range of her handcuffs with the promise of fast, hard sex. Easy.

Once she gets him there, keeping her own hands off him isn’t so easy.

Sam’s committed his share of sins, but he’s not guilty of selling secrets. Before he can convince the sexiest bounty hunter he’s ever seen that he’s been betrayed, all hell breaks loose. And he’s on the run with a false accusation on his hands—and a bleeding woman in his arms.

Alone in her boss’s safe house, Lou and Dawson’s simmering attraction explodes into full-blown fireworks.

When Jared Flores walks in on his best hunter and ex-lover in bed together, the surprise is mutual. Worse, the need he has long felt for both of them overrides his better judgment. After the fists fly, the sparks catch fire into a budding three-way romance.

Then Sam disappears, leaving Jared and Lou in a race against time to not only retrieve their lover, but save his life.

Warning: Hot M/F sex, M/F/M sex, and holy moly some really hot MMF sex amongst lots of weapons and fire fights. Deceitful family members, nasty set ups, and an Alpha male whose lovers have naughty punishments in mind—when they catch him.

I love Melissa and her Harmless series is one of my favorite series, so when I was asked if I wanted to read this book I went sure.

This is different from her Harmless series in so many ways, and I have to say that at times I liked it and at others I wished it was more like that series. But I have that problem when I love a series so much by an author and I read another one of their series.

Jared has had to major loves of his life, Sam and Lou. When he sends Lou after Sam he has no clue that her job is Sam, until it is to late. When he finds them together one hand he is furious and on the other completely turned on.

From the moment Lou and Sam see each other it is lust at first sight. Then all hell breaks loose.

This is a really short read I think I read in about 45 min. If I had a bathtub I would have read it in the tub, as it is a perfect bathtub or pool read.

If you like complex characters that have great chemistry than you won’t want to miss this book.

RomCon 2011 Recap

Be warned this is a long post but well worth it for what happened to us on the last day :) ALL PICTURES HAVE BEEN POSTED TO OUR FB PAGE.

When Melanie and I planned our trip this year all we knew was that we were going to have fun, meet more authors and new people. One of the things that we did differently this year was we signed up to be buddies. In both our groups we had authors so that made it different as we had already made these connections with attendee’s and authors. I had Terry O’Dell and Mel had Dee Davis and Julia London. We also had some fun people that we were able to hang out with and get to know a bit better.

On Thursday we got to Denver early and were met at the hotel by our friend Tiffany (who has a book coming out soon with Ashley March and Bernandette Marie). Once we had dumped the luggage we were off to help stuff the swag bags for various events.

As we were stuffing we got to visit with new to us authors Shayla Black (well she is new to Melanie as I talk to her on twitter), Sophie Oak, Sylvia Day, Erin Quinn and a friend from last year Erin Kellison.

As we were standing by the registration desk we meet Robyn Carr, unbeknown to us Robyn lives up the street from us. I promised to go to her event that she holds at our local library if she comes to dinner with us when our dinner group meets.

Then it was time for dinner. Before  RomCon started we thought it would be fun to have dinner and catch up with our author friends from last year so we sent out the invite and was happy to see that all of them said yes. Before we knew it our dinner of about fifteen turned into a dinner of thirty three, with some new author friends and new friends joining us. It was amazing. The list of authors could be read as a who who in romance, and yes I am going to brag that we got to eat dinner with these authors. Robyn Carr, Melissa Mayhue, Janelle Denison, Carly Phillips, Shayla Black, Sophie Oak, Sylvia Day, Isobel Carr, Jessa Slade, Erin Quinn, Erin Kellison, Gabi Stevens, Delilah Marvelle and Jenn LeBlanc.

After dinner the authors had their author event so we went and unpacked our clothes before heading down to the meet your buddy event. This event this was a lot of fun as the different buddy groups ended up just hanging out together and having a great time visiting.

Friday morning dawned bright and early. We meet Terry O’Dell for breakfast but our waitress was really slow and we ended up not getting anything (next year we are taking oatmeal). Then it was off to the various events.

I went to the Build  a Hero event that was a huge hit last year and sat at a table with Jenn Le Blanc and another whose name escapes me at this moment I and I will probably remember in a week and go that was her name. At our table we also had Kati from Romancing Rakes and Jamie @jamielyn831. Our hero name is Ewan MacGregor who is a 9th century highlander that ends up in the 21st century won the event.

While I was building a hero, Melanie went to a contemporary authors panel and got to listen to Carly Phillips and an intimate chat with Julia London.

We then ran into Melissa Mayhue and went to lunch with her. It was great getting that one on one time with her as we count her as a friend.

After lunch it was off the Highlander Panel with Melissa Mayhue, Margret Mallory and Kimberly Killion. Kimberly was gracious enough to provide a model Brooks to show what the highlander wore. While Mel was in playing with the highlanders I was over playing taboo with the paranormal authors. Jessa Slade was on my team however we lost.

Then it was time for Melissa Schroeder’s Luau. I was super excited for this as I LOVE Melissa and her A Little Harmless Series.

Halfway through the Luau however we went over to help finish setting up for dinner. We got to meet and hang out with Beth Williamson there. Beth and I bonded over our love of Angel from Johanna Lindsey.

Dinner was wild west theme, there was a mechanical bull and sepia pictures to be taken. Mel and I had our picture taken with Melissa Mayhue and Tiffany James, and then I got on the bull. There is apparently video of this event.

After dinner it was time for the Choc Mangasm. This was a huge success. Delilah did an excellent job of organizing it. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. (All pictures are on FB).

Saturday I swear we were busier than ever. When we left the room at 8am I didn’t return until almost 11pm. We ran ran ran.

In fact Saturday seems like a giant blur to me. I know that I was in the intimate chat with Tara Janzen, where she talked a bit about the upcoming anthology that she and Cindy Gerard are participating in along with several other authors. I’m sure you have all seen the picture of the cover of the book. It has a SEAL with his back to the camera and is titles Seal of my Dreams. She shared with us the fact that the SEAL on the cover is an actual SEAL and the picture was taken as a SEAL stationed in Faluga was getting ready for a mission.

We both went to Melissa Mayhue’s intimate chat where she told us about her new book Warriors Redemtion (I think that is the name) and showed us the cover. This book is one that will be read as soon as it comes as the premise is amazing.

Melanie then went to the Historical Fashion show where Deeanne Gist, Melissa Mayhue, Mary Wine, Kimberly Killion, Jade Lee, and Delilah Marvelle modeled the clothes of the time periods we love to read about. She took a lot of pictures and had a great time. Here are just a few of the outfits that were modeled.

While she was doing that I played madlibs with Janelle Dennsion and helped Jessa Slade judge her game (the name of which is escaping me at this moment) I got to judge with Jeanne Stein, having never met her before I was excited to visit with her.

We had lunch with Erin Kellison and great conversation as well.

I went with Erin to help her with her game of quick draw that where there was a bit of drama, but was worked out really well I think.

I then got to go to Julie James intimate chat where she dished on her books, and how she made the transistion from lawyer to full-time author, oh and she gave us a sneak peak into Kyle’s book (I will just say this it is going to be great).

Then it was time for the FAB 5 cocktail hour, hosted by Shayla Black (who bless her heart had been sick most of the day), Sophie Oak, Sylvia Day, Erin Quinn and Erin Kellison. They had some awesome swag that they gave out.

Dinner was a paranormal themed event and we had great conversations with our table mates.

After dinner we had Melissa Mayhue’s blogger event, she had some great authors and swag as well, I won the big prize from her, a Melissa Mayhue bag signed by all the authors as well some great goodies.

Then it was time for the pj party. At the pj party the amazing Jessa organized a round robin story telling that got more than a bit weird.

Sunday morning brought us to our event. Melanie and I had been stressing for months about this event and how it would go off. A couple of publishers had sent us a lot of books and several of the authors had given us the left over from their events so we had A TON of books to giveaway.

When I walked into the room ten minutes before the event and saw how many people were in the room I was floored. The conversation was great as we talked about the books and authors that we love. We talked about Vampires and what we liked in Paranormals. We all agreed that if there is a guy wearing a kilt on the cover we will buy it. I also discovered that there is a place for me to utilize all the book info I have in my head and that is in this event.

We dashed around the author signing like mad women making sure we hit everyone and said good bye to everyone as we were leaving after the signing.

The Double E’s (Erin Kellison and Erin Quinn) invited us to lunch as we were all catching the same shuttle, so we had lunch with them Sylvia Day and Mary Wine.

Up to this point we had been drama free (unlike last year) then we got off the shuttle at the airport to discover that the hotel hadn’t loaded one of my suitcases onto the shuttle. Erin Q and Sylvia were with us as we were all flying the same airline and didn’t want to check in without making sure that we were okay (wasn’t that sweet of them). It took the hotel 40 minutes to find my suitcase, at this point we were on the verge of missing our flight. As we were waiting for the hotel manager to bring me my suitcase we got a message from the airline, our flight was delayed by an hour. This gave us plenty of time to check in, make our way through security (as we entered the airport we were told if we walk to the other end of the airport the line through security was shorter, it was a bit of a hike but well worth it) Melanie got the privilege of going through the full body scanner, I told her to ask for the mammogram image. We figured it was a perfect way to get a free cancer screening.

By the time we got the plane we were flat out exhausted. Then halfway through the flight all the bookmarks in my bag (and there was a lot) fell out of my bag. As the flight was full we had no room whatsoever to bend down and pick them so Melanie used her toes.

The thing that I wasn’t able to do was to pin down Cindy Gerard about the MAJOR cliffhanger at the end of Luc’s book.

This was our RomCon 2011 adventure and we will be going back again next year. The dates have been announced June 21-24.

Here is a picture of Heather’s swag haul, one of the more popular items was the trading cards. These seem to have been a huge hit with everyone.

Guest Blog Melissa Schroeder + giveaway

Last year when we did the RomCon Reading Challenge we discovered Melissa and I have to say that I have been hooked ever since. I LOVE her Harmless series so much that when Melissa asked me to read A Little Harmless Addiction I immediately said YES! I was already in love with this series but oh my Kai and Jocelyn made me sigh.

When Melissa told me that she had the opportunity to meet Jocelyn on her recent trip to Hawaii and was able to interview her, and wondered if we would be interested in posting it, well I of course said yes.

With that I turn the blog over to Melissa

INTERVIEW JOCELYN DUPREE

I met with Jocelyn after she had finished work at Cynthia’s Bakery. She brought me one of her fantastic malasadas and a cup of Kona as she sat on a bench at the pier waiting for Kai. For those of you who read Kai’s interview, this is a few days earlier.  Jocelyn is a stunning woman. Creole, she has amazing skin and reminds me a bit of Halle Berry. Which is why I didn’t bring my husband with me.

MEL: Jocelyn, thanks for making time to chat with me. I know you are really busy with the bakery.

JOCELYN: nods I am trying to take some stuff off of Cynthia in her condition.

MEL: And thanks for the mallasada. I bite into it and the taste of cinnamon and flaky crust fairly melts in my mouth. One of the best I’ve had.

JOCELYN: Thanks. It took a while to get it just right.

MEL: Which says a lot because you have a lot of schooling. Aren’t you considered one of the top pastry chefs in the country?

JOCELYN: Yes. Although I am going in a direction I never thought I would go, but yes.

MEL: Direction? How is it different than what you wanted?

JOCELYN: Looks out over the water. I thought I wanted to be in that big celebrity chef status. I wanted all the attention. Or, well, people made me think I did. When things sort of fell apart, I realized that it wasn’t what I wanted. The real joy for me was that I was the baking, the creating. All the other stuff just became not important.

MEL: How did Kai factor into that?

JOCELYN: He didn’t at first. I was so not ready to fall in love. I didn’t even want to date. But, I met him the first night and there was that… I don’t know…flicker of interest. After the problems with my boss, I didn’t know if I would ever be able to handle another relationship. I wanted to. But, it was iffy, especially so soon after the incident.

MEL: What drew you to him?

JOCELYN: smiles Well, he looks tough, right? All those tats and piercings, and he is. He will be the first to tell you he was working on the docks as a teenager. I wouldn’t doubt he could probably kick some serious ass, although I have never seen him in action…that way. But he has this cuddly softness within him.

MEL: How did you know that? I mean it sounds like you had issues with trust so how did you know you could trust him?

JOCELYN: His eyes. He might be a hard ass, but he has kind eyes. He is gentle with me. But, he also does what his sister asks him to. You can tell he is solid. Not perfect but solid.

Her attention is on the water and I see a boat pulling in. I know then that she has been waiting for Kai

MEL: I’ll let you go.

JOCELYN: Oh, no, stay.

MEL: I would love to, but we were up early to go to Sea Life Park for the dolphin thing and we have a meeting tomorrow.

Thanks again!

JOCELYN: No worries.

She walks toward the docks with a lighter step another bag of malasadas in her hand as she goes to greet her love.

We want to thank Melissa for being her today, and for the great interview. If you have not read this series I STRONGLY suggest that you remedy that immediately. Here is the link to Heather’s review of A Little Harmless Addiction.

****As as added bonus we are giving away 1 ebook of A Little Harmless Addiction to a commenter. All you have to do is tell me What kind of story draws you in and keeps you coming back for more. Is it the plot, the characters, or the author? Open to International as this is an ebook.

Falling in love might not be the smart thing, but it might be the one thing they both need.

Jocelyn Dupree has come to Hawaii to heal. After a horrific experience with her last boss, she is on the mend and ready to start again. She is focused on rebuilding her life and her career as a pastry chef. She definitely doesn’t need a man in her life, or so she thinks.

Kai Aiona has always been the guy to mend a broken heart. Unfortunately, the last heart that was broken was his. He has sworn off damaged women, but he can’t resist Jocelyn’s sad eyes, not to mention her determination to succeed.

One little date turns into several and soon, Jocelyn finds herself easily addicted to Kai’s sensual nature. Resisting him becomes impossible, but Jocelyn isn’t ready to trust completely. When Kai discovers she hasn’t been telling him everything, Jocelyn is left with two choices: trust her heart, or let the one man she has ever loved go.

Product Warnings

Scenes from Hawaii, nosey friends and family, two people who are right for each other but too stupid to realize it, a tattooed and pierced hero, a sassy Southern heroine, one drunken night, and love scenes that will curl your toes, warm your heart and leave you panting for more. Remember, Harmless stories are not for the weak.

I admit it I have a Harmless Addiction I am completely addicted to this series, and freely admit that I cyber stalk Melissa to make sure that I don’t miss anything in this series.
Kai is normally the rebound guy, and that is perfectly fine with him as he has no intention of settling down. That is until Keisha his high school sweetheart came back into his life (this is played out in A Little Harmless Lie). What he never expected was for him to want more and her to leave him high and dry. For the first time in his life he is swearing off women. That is until Jocelyn comes into his life. The one woman he shouldn’t want, and yet he does. What he never expected was to want her for more than the usual casual sex.

Jocelyn has come to Hawaii to be by her brother Chris (from a Little Harmless Pleasure) after a very bad year. Everyone has spent the last year coddling her, and not letting her breathe. She is determined to get her life back. What she didn’t expect was to feel any kind of desire for a man, but the moment she meets Kai she feels the pull of desire in more than a year.

Watching these two put themselves back together and come together is such a great read. I was so completely caught up in it that I didn’t register anyone or anything the entire time I read it.
The secondary story that is happening with Chris and Cynthia is absolutely great. I had to laugh out loud at it. Then there is Evan and May, there are some great scenes between May and Kai and Kai and Evan and all three of them.

If you are a fan of this series than you will most definitely not be disappointed in this story as it has all the stuff that we have come to love with this series. Great characters, realistic story line, hot sex (sorry no bdsm in this one it is all vanilla sex) and best of all a great love story.

Amazon blurb

What begins as a quest for submission becomes an unrelenting need for love.

May Aiona’s crush on sexy Evan Chambers is a bad habit that should be easy to break. It’s not like he’s ever noticed her. Looking for a safe place to release the reins of control and explore her curiosity about BDSM, May takes a friend up on an invitation to visit an exclusive bondage club—all she has to agree to is a public submission.

Evan can’t help but notice the exotically beautiful May. But despite his success, the dirty secrets of his past whisper that he’ll never be good enough for her. When Evan sees her standing in his club ready to submit to his best friend, he gives in to the thing he wants most—May as his sub. After their session, he knows one night will never be enough. But loving May isn’t easy for a man always ready to take charge. She might like to submit in the bedroom, but she doesn’t like anyone telling her what to do outside of it.

When May insists she’s not in any danger from the person seemingly obsessed with her, she ends up in the sights of a deranged stalker—with Evan possibly too far away to help.

Warning: This book contains sexy Hawaiian settings, crazy relatives, and a submission scene that leaves the heroine breathless and the hero frustrated. There are toys, bondage, and love scenes so hot, you’ll need ice water and a towel. Remember, it’s a Harmless story, so you know there’s nothing harmless about it.

Let me preface this by saying that I LOVE Melissa, she is one of the funnest people I have ever met. We had the privelege of meeting her at RomCon last year and had a great time getting to know her.

Ever since I read the second book in this series last year for the RomCon reading challenge A Little Harmless Pleasure I have wanted Evan’s story. There was just something about him that intrigued me, especially as he went out of his to avoid being more than just a friend to May. He is sexy as hell, and knows how to be a great friend.

I loved everything about Evan. Yes he has some major issues, but then again who wouldn’t considering his childhood. He has been in lust with May for years, yes lust, but he is a Dom and in his mind May has no business being anywhere near the DOM/s lifesytle. When someone begins to stalk May, all of his protective instincts come out, and he wants to wrap her up in bubble wrap and keep her safe. Then he walks into Rough & Ready the Dom club that he is a silent owner in, he is furious to see May there. And when he finds out why, he is backed into a corner, and makes sure that he is the only person to touch her. What he doesn’t realize is that it is that moment will change him forever.

May is one of those really great characters. When you write this kind of story you walk a fine line of having a woman that is either to submissive or so controlling that it comes of forced. That is so not the case here. May has to be in complete control of so many aspects of her life, and is beginning to figure out what is wrong with her in the bedroom. She has also been in love with him for years.

With the help of their friends Chris, Cynthia, and Micah, May begins her journey to discovering what she needs in the bedroom, and Evan is forced to make a decision that will change his life for the better. There is the perfect amount of give in May, not make her a push over. In fact one of my favorite parts is when May tells Evan that yes needs to be a submissive in the bedroom, but not in the rest of her life, and he can just deal with it.

The BDSM scenes have just enough kink to be hot, and not be uncomfortable if you don’t like this type of story.
