What Fools These Mortals Be! ~Puck (A Midsummer Nights Dream)

Mat (the budding thespian) is in our city’s Shakespeare in the park production of Midsummer Nights Dream, as such both Mike and I have attended every rehearsal and seen this play countless times over the last several weeks. The other night we watched the complete dress rehearsal and laughed our butts off. Last night, Opening Night, however took the cake. There was a wardrobe malfunction and the way the actor handled it made it seem like it was suppose to happen.

When I got up to walk Finn – hey we were  in a park had to take the dog – and I saw the crowd it occured to me that there is a reason that almost 500 years after he wrote these plays we are still reading them and putting them on, and why there are Shakespearean Festivals all over the world. He is timeless. His stories are timeless. In a word he is Shakespeare.

So my words of wisdom today are, if there is a Shakespeare in the park near you, pack a picnic and take the family to see it. You won’t regret it.
