Everything I Never Wanted by K. Street

Title: Everything I Never Wanted

Series: n/a

Stand Alone Title: yes
Author: K. Street

Genre: Romance

Blurb:  This wasn’t supposed to be my life.

One phone call was all it took to bring me back to the small town I had grown up in. Everything had changed, and staying away was no longer an option.

Four and a half years later, I was a widowed single father still here, still trying to pick up the pieces. We were doing just fine on our own, my little girl and me.

At least, we were until Camryn Parker stumbled into our lives. The woman was like a tornado after a hurricane; she was the storm I never saw approaching. Behind her beauty and sarcastic wit, she was just as broken as I pretended not to be. As hard as I tried to resist, it was impossible not to fall in love with her.

In the end, it took nearly losing it all for me to realize everything I never wanted was exactly what I needed.

Favorite excerpt(s): “I thought you were supposed to be watching cartoons while I was in the shower.”

“I was, but then I got bored, and I asked you if I could come outside to play on the porch.  You said yes really loud through the bathroom door.”  Tucker tilted his head skyward and muttered something under his breath that I couldn’t quite make out.  If I didn’t know better, I’d think he was embarrassed.

Thoughts: I was very pleasantly surprised by this book.  Normally, I’m not a big fan of first person books, although sometimes it just works.  I’d never read this author before, either, but for some reason the blurb just appealed to me and I decided to take a chance.  Boy, am I glad I did!  This book was so fresh and appealing, and stood out amongst the many books I’ve read lately.  I’ve never fallen in love with characters so quickly, particularly the adorable little girl, Shayne, that resulted in many a laughable moment.  The author done a fantastic job with the telling of this single-dad romance and it was enough to win me over.  I will definitely be reading more by this author!

Book lovers, this one is worth taking a chance on!
