Hope(less) by Melissa Haag

Title: Hope(less)

Series: Judgement of the Six Book #1

Stand Alone Title: yes
Author:  Melissa Haag

Genre:  Paranormal Romance

Blurb: Gabby’s brain is like a human fish finder. It comes in handy when she wants to avoid people. Mostly men. They seem to like her a bit too much. It’s lonely being different, but she’s adapted to it. Really. She just wishes she knew why she is different, though.

In her search for answers, she discovers a hidden community of werewolves. She immerses herself in their culture, learning about their world until she meets Clay. He’s unkempt, prone to mood swings, intense without saying a word, and he thinks Gabby is his.

It’s going to take every trick she knows to convince Clay to go away, and every bit of willpower not to fall for him when she discovers the man beneath the rough exterior.

Judgement has begun…

Favorite quote(s): “If I’d spoken, even just one word, I would have never been able to hold back what I feel for you.  You would have run.”

Thoughts: This book was not what I was expecting….at all.  It was so different and unique from the normal paranormal romances out there.  For one, Clay remains in wolf form the majority of the book.  Even when he is human, he doesn’t talk.  Not a word.  Also, we have the whole ‘mate’ thing from the very beginning, which of course includes the whole ‘she is mine’ mindset.  Clay, however, even though he has his macho, alpha male thing going on, knows that Gabby isn’t ready to accept his claim yet….and sets out to woo her slowly.  I really have to praise the author, because is those things aren’t hard enough, the author managed to set a slow and steady pace to the book – and yet still maintained the readers interest.  No boredom, or urges to skip some pages….she managed to make the whole book seamless and captivating.

I am totally won over!  This has to be one of my favorite books I’ve read this year!

Needless to say, I’ve already bought the next book in the series.
